Battlefield: Bad Company (PS3 & Xbox 360)

Warhawk is a 3rd person 32-player (dedicated server) arcade-ish game which is known for aerial combat (hence the name). BF games are FP military shooters with vehicles.

Well BF2 PC was a 64+ player multi-player with lots of aero vechicles and combat area for the units. Now BF:BC doesnt seem to continue with this but I hope the next BF.

Sorry, I meant this console iteration. I really like BF games, BF2 is one of the best MP games IMO. The BF:GC demo was great fun too, so I hope to find a deal on it. I was also thinking of picking up Frontlines on the 360.

I hope not; I hope choppers and other vehicles play more of a support role to infantry as they do in BF:BC. Having objectives that vehicles can't capture is a good start, really.

don't know if I can go back to another shooter without destructible environments.

there's nothing like never having to use a door (I even got the achievement in MP :) ) when breaching a building to take an objective. or making your own path with your knife through fences. shooting enemies through walls was in CoD4 but this takes it to a whole new level IM.

VERY good MP game with excellent graphics and fun gameplay

I haven't beaten the SP yet but i've played enough for some better impressions. I like the story, it doesn't take itself too seriously. Its not the best story ever, but its good enough for this kind of game. The graphics are good despite a little pop-up and screentearing. The gameplay is pretty standard. Basisly you get to do everything your able to do in MP. Even the amount for weapons you can carry is the same as the MP. Which is a problem. You often need a specific weapon for a given situation, but if you dont carry it you'll need to go look for it. This happens far to often and even if one of your three buddy's is carrying it, he probably wont use it. They should have made it so you can change between the members of bad company. I got killed over ten times trying to find a rocketlauncher to shoot down a helicopter. This game was clearly made as a MP game first.

As for the MP. Teamwork is absolutely critical for success. Having the right combination of classes and vehicle's is more important than personal skill. Ironically the game can't be played like that. Playing with friends is almost impossible, so your left to play with strangers. Everyone is doing their own thing so you rarely have the right class to back you up. If you do get it right you'll win and if your opponents get it right you'll lose. No matter how well you play by yourself. Winning is almost random. This games needs to be played with friends. It doesn't work properly without them. And its the reason I like MP games.

It has also been suffering from lag and not enough people to start a quick match when there should be plenty.

It could be an excellent MP game if these issues get fixed. If not then they shouldn't have made teamwork so important. There are already several people in our clan who wont buy it until the problems get fixed. And until then I cant recommend it either.

while I agree that it would help, you can only communicate with your own squad anyway (4). I play solo most of the time and while it is random, I end up with some good squad mates quite often and have been fairly successful working together (even without a mic).

My experience in finding games is near perfect and in 10 hours of online play I have had only 3 matches that I exited from due to lag. The others have been fast and furious. These EA servers seem to be working better than the old MC2 servers from 2006. IMO

Mind if I ask what version you're playing? PS3 or 360?

Its not the size or vechicles that made BF2 so good, the aiming and gunplay felt better aswell. I hate how DICE tries to "simplyfy" BF for consoles by making them super arcadeish

I haven't been able to play a single decent game today. Lots of lag, stupid teammates, screenfreezing when I get shot and spawn campers. It seems to get worse everyday. I have the PS3 btw.

The producer of BF.BC is saying if we want clan support, party's, ect. we should complain in the EA forums. Which basically means have EA to thank for this incomplete mess. EA its not in the game.:devilish: In know plenty clans that have already complained in the EA forums. But all they get is maybe we'll add it in a future update. Which most are expecting to arrive long after most players have moved on.

Battlefield on PS2 had some good support for clanwars for those days. And it was one of the main reasons the game remained so popular long afterward.

Releasing incomplete games is sorta DICE's M.O., though. The story has always been that EA forces them to release early.

Dice is run by morons if thats true. There are 300 clans waiting to start playing clanwars on ConsoleGaming alone. This could become the next CoD4. They can have tons of regular players keeping the servers busy so to allow for quick matches long after release and to sell DLC too.

But its also about time someone took the fall for releasing crappy incomplete games.

This must be one of the buggyest laggyest games ever made. I got stuck in walking backwards, incredible bullet lag with shots being fired seconds after I pull the trigger, getting knived or killed by the shotgun over incredible range, not taking damage when fired upon or one shot killed, shotguns blowing up tanks, screen freezing, headsets stop working, the servers went down several times, everyone's stats and unlocked weapons went missing today but they are returned now.

The Xbox 360 doesn't have most of these problems which isn't a surprise as thats the version that got beta tested. EA and Dice have said they will maybe fix these problems after they release the conquest game mode. Which means the community will have moved on before the patch is released just like it happened to other games before it. They are lucky that there aren't a lot of games released during the summer, but maybe Socom or Resistance 2 will do a public beta so we'll have something decent to play instead.

I believe there is a post in this thread by me. Stating that this game would be buggy. Dice hasn't released a non-bug ridden game yet. For whatever the reason is, games with good concepts and decent gameplay execution (not great) but rather horrible bug problems. Best of luck to those waiting on fixes, they took a very long time for the PC games and many times they were claimed to be fixed but not.

You must be new to the battlefield series? It's a DICE trademark. On the PC, I learned to just deal with it. The PC trend used to be shuffling glitches as in: fix some of the current ones while introducing new ones. In a way, it keeps the gameplay fresh! :p

This is my first time online with the series. No that it was ever good offline. They must have outdone themselfs this time. Its always a surprise which bugs we'll have to suffer the next day.

Absolutely agreed.

I hate BF on the consoles, yet I love it on PC (even with all the bugs).

Repi, why the hell do you guys not make the console versions of BF more like the PC versions (by that, I mean more like BF2, BF2:SF, and BF2142)? If you did, you'd knock one out of the park. I guarantee it.

The PC BF games always had hitbox issues.

I just started playing my copy tonight (360). I love the look and feel, but with every online shooter there are parts I hate. It seems like every other guy is a damn sniper and I get killed by some invisible guy every 10-30 secs. The same with artillery strikes, I hate auto-death from above. Why do they put fun killing things in games like this? There should only be one sniper per team and artillery should rarer, it seems like it's constantly going.

Artillery is fine as it is, you get to shot like once every 30 seconds, its very easy to destroy (just laser tag it as a sniper for example, or get a tank). Its also fairly easy to run away from, 99% of the time the artillerist will bomb the base, stay indoor or a bit outside (but in cover, say below a tree or something so he doesnt see you) and your okay.

Snipers aren't particularly strong in this game, seeing how you need 2 shots from even the strongest rifle to kill people except for the head. If your getting killed by snipers alot its because your to stationary (meaning your most likely camping something).

1 sniper per team? Why? If all everybody on a team (or alot of them) wants to snipe, its not a particular big challenge to win, aspecially if your team is attacking.
