Quick post before diving out to the next thing -- saw around 15-20 demos and PS3 games at the conference. All I can say is <edit>. AFAIK the Insomniac FPS , GT5, and the FF demo were real time, and looked frankly incredible. I don't know if movies online will do it justice as it was projected at the conference in-engine at 1080p (not a typo). It's looks about as good as any movie quality CG out there today.
The Getaway next-gen stuff (IN GAME) showed a scene from Picadilly circus, complete with like hundreds of pedestrians, cars, birds, litter, and a truly photo-realistic environment. I was expecting something great, but this stuff doesn't even seem feasible for the generation after, let alone next-gen. A true surprise, awesome awesome stuff.
PC-Engine said:The Getaway certainly looked like it could be realtime. There was nothing fancy going on, some nice lighting though.

On the other hand, the more I look at the console itself, the more I like it's design
So what, now the GPUs perform 900GFLOP (ati) and 1800GFLOP (NV) each?

That's weird. They're completely black and seems to be a perfect quadrate. I haven't measured them or anything, I'm only going by eyesight. In the first screenshot I mentioned it looked like it was 8x8 pixels or something like that.

Look at the grenade launcher under his gun, do you see that perfect small black quad? It's not specific to the picture from this source.
What the hell is it, a dropped tile or a lost render sample or something?
You can also see two similiar quadrates in this picture:

I haven't checked the third picture though, my computer isn't even fast enough to show SCREENSHOTS of next-gen games.
