Playstation 3 e3 thread 3

Well i'm pretty sure that internally the machine will render at either 1080p or 720p, so in case you didn't have an HDTV, the 480i/p setup would have lots of AA applied to it for free. Much like X360.

So it's all good for most of us, we'll get new hardware and we'll have time to get new HDTVs when they come down in price, especially in Europe, and enjoy the full details of next gen games.

Can't bloody wait.

as far as i understand hdmi

you can connect the ps3 right out of the box on a PC TFT screen with DVI input ?

Yes, and if I'm not mistaken you can even connect that amazingly beautiful Apple 30" display.

not that i know of,,$300 is a guess. one thing that really bothered me about the ps2 --main reason why i sold it because the resolution was hurting my eyes on my 68cm t.v(playing in my bed room 3m away). cant wait for hi res:) --720p would be so sweet.

What's up with the small black quad in this picture:

Look at the grenade launcher under his gun, do you see that perfect small black quad? It's not specific to the picture from this source.
What the hell is it, a dropped tile or a lost render sample or something?

You can also see two similiar quadrates in this picture:

I haven't checked the third picture though, my computer isn't even fast enough to show SCREENSHOTS of next-gen games.

It might not look as good as you want it to since the native resolution of most TFTs are not HD resolutions but it should work with a hdmi->DVI cable.

As usual next-gen revelations are not complete without asking the question, 'realtime? pre-rendered? or gameplay?'

From the ever reliable Tokyopia:

Quick post before diving out to the next thing -- saw around 15-20 demos and PS3 games at the conference. All I can say is <edit>. AFAIK the Insomniac FPS , GT5, and the FF demo were real time, and looked frankly incredible. I don't know if movies online will do it justice as it was projected at the conference in-engine at 1080p (not a typo). It's looks about as good as any movie quality CG out there today.

The Getaway next-gen stuff (IN GAME) showed a scene from Picadilly circus, complete with like hundreds of pedestrians, cars, birds, litter, and a truly photo-realistic environment. I was expecting something great, but this stuff doesn't even seem feasible for the generation after, let alone next-gen. A true surprise, awesome awesome stuff.

The Getaway certainly looked like it could be realtime. There was nothing fancy going on, some nice lighting though.

Yes Getaway was obviously realtime and looked very nice. If only they got the bus routes right!!!

I'm still puzzled as to where both MS and Sony got the 1 and 2TFLOP figures, when they even specify that the XCPU is about 100GFLOPS and Cell is around 200...
So what, now the GPUs perform 900GFLOP (ati) and 1800GFLOP (NV) each?

Gotta love PR...

The more I look at teh PS3 controller, the more it starts to look like something that came from a dogs ass :?
On the other hand, the more I look at the console itself, the more I like it's design :)

Oh i'm sure it will be comfortable... In the hands of small japanese geeks.

Can't really see them quads :? Dead pixels? PS3 has dead pixels in hardware???

That's weird. They're completely black and seems to be a perfect quadrate. I haven't measured them or anything, I'm only going by eyesight. In the first screenshot I mentioned it looked like it was 8x8 pixels or something like that.

I'm also viewing them on a brightly lit laptop screen, so I guess it's easy for me to spot them. Damn, I can't be the only one that noticed them? I absolutely refuse to belive that my hardware has a subtle flaw that makes it impossible to display screenshots containing the colorpatterns shown in the images from Killzone 2 :D

yes thats their official quote i'v read somewhere

makes sense no :)

Err yeah makes perfect sense.... NOT.

Unless NVIDIA found a magic wand that made them go SuperSayan and let them defy laws of physics... But hey it's NVIDIA huh...

I got confirmation Killzone2 demo is a prerendered movie and that it's NOT Killzone2, it's Killzone 3 ;) Sony guys attached the wrong label..
