Move Games

Move aiming works well in Festival of Blood. Unfortunately it didn't seem to be in any way advantageous to using the controller, so for the sake of my own comfort I switched back to the DS3 pretty quickly.

Child of Eden on the other hand: much, much easier with the Move. Nice game, albeit nowhere near as good as its spiritual predecessor Rez.

And Hydrophobia should be avoided like the plague. The game is fundamentally broken, and no amount of extra polish or alternative control schemes is going to fix that.

Supposedly House of the Dead Overkill works incredibly well with the Move controller. Definitely going to pick that up sooner or later.

Have you tried Deadmund's Quest ?

I was going to get Child of Eden last week, but punt it off to December.

Isn't Deadmund's Quest out the 15th of November? So he couldn't have tried it out yet? (unless he was at something like GamesCom, where I did see it)

A Tennis game dedicated to Move ?

EA Sports Has "Best-In-Class Move Integration" For Grand Slam Tennis 2
http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2011/10/ea-sports-has-best-in-class-move.html

Reporting from an EA preview event which took place in New York last week, Eurogamer published some interesting quotes from Gran Slam Tennis 2 producer Thomas Singleton concerning Move implementation in the upcoming EA Sports tennis sim.

According to Singleton, the sequel to the tennis simulator exclusively released on the Wii in 2009, aims at having you "feel that sensation of controlling all the action" by leveraging on what he describes as the "best-in-class Move integration".

...

But here we have a publisher apparently committed to the Move more seriously than SEGA and 2K Games eventually were (by the way, NBA2K12 Move implementation is nothing like it was promised during Sony's E3 2011 presentation - stay away from it if you are looking for some quality Move action).

The first hint at this degree of commitment comes from the fact that Grand Slam Tennis 2 won't support Kinect, meaning there won't be any constraints to adhere to when designing the Move motion control interface (which was sadly the case with Virtua Tennis 4).

"The successful Kinect titles are built specifically for that platform," says Singleton. "They're not built for that platform [pointing at a PlayStation 3 unit] and then made to work with the Kinect platform. The games that play well, that's where the Move controller is treated as a peripheral versus a platform. We're supporting the peripheral."

On top of this, there won't be a Wii version this time around. The decision not to bring Grand Slam Tennis 2 to the platform that exclusively enjoyed its prequel comes down to the desire to go after a "photo-real look", and also to that of fully expressing motion controls potential. Which was not really possible with another Wii-derived, heavily gesture-based game such as Top Spin 4 by 2K Games.

More Biohazard Coming To PlayStation Move
http://www.iwaggle3d.com/2011/10/more-biohazard-coming-to-playstation.html

High definition and PlayStation Move compatible remakes of previously Wii-only on-rail shooters Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles and Biohazard: The Umbrella Chronicles will be released exclusively on PlayStation 3 in one handy package called "Biohazard Chronicles HD Selection".

I added both Biohazard titles and EA's Grand Slam Tennis 2 to OP.

If they get the Move controls right for that tennis game, then I'm sold. Previous Move supporting tennis games have been a great disappointment, by making it a throwaway add-on. Just get it to a similar level as Sports Champions table tennis is all that is required, and then they will sell to half the Move install-base given the right marketing. ;) Even if they manage an eight, that's still potentially a cool million at this point, and stuff like Dance Central shows it can be done.

On another Move note, this week should see a Deadmund's Quest demo on the store ...

Yeah, he's got two parts of 40 minutes or so, quite insane.

Move Fitness demo is up as well. This one has very good tracking with clever dynamic calibration. I talked to the developer / lead designer, who is also responsible for The Fight.

EDIT: Move Fitness is pretty good. There's some awesome games in there too by the way that aren't in the demo - the one where you do some sword fighting to slash frisbies for instance is very cool.

EDIT2: also Start the Party 2 demo is up, and the LBP2 demo.

I noticed the Carnival Island Move game was released and saw it on store shelves. Anyone tried it yet, is it any good?

Yeah, I want to pick up that Carnival game, looks shallow but hope it offers variety. But I'm going to play Super Mario 3D Land for the next month or so. So Move games, like HOTD, DM Quest, EyePet friend will probably have to wait till next year. Heck I haven't completed KZ3 SP campaign yet. That one was sort of fun with Sharpshooter.

More Biohazard Coming To PlayStation Move

After Resident Evil 5 Gold edition, i'm hoping Capcom will announce Move support for Operation Racoon City. If they do i'll buy the game day one. If not i'll ignore it.

Knowing Capcom however, they more likely announce some exclusive DLC for the 360 and leave us PS3 gamers playing with our todgers in a corner... smh (sorry folks, they just burned me with that crap for dead rising).

Hey guys, are there any games you'd recommend for kids? I got a ps3 + move for my niece and nephew (5 and 3 years old) and they are loving Eyepet, anything else cool like that?

I don't have many Move games, but my 3-year old niece (4 tomorrow) LOVES beat sketcher. She doesn't really draw anything, but she makes up stories and makes me draw the setting. She really gets a kick out of the fact that you can see yourselves on the TV. I actually don't even have the game... the demo included on the demo disc lets me do enough. Every time she comes here she asks to play "the drawing game" and she comes here A LOT.

Kids that age might like , Start the Party ,Carnival Island, Just Dance 3, Just Dance Kids 2 , TV SuperStars , learning with the PooYoos , Michael Jackson: The Experience, Tumble & Sports Champions.

just download a few demos & see what they like.

Definitely Start the Party (the original probably even more so than Part 2) - you can't go wrong with this one. Everyone always loves it, and while some mini-games can be a bit too tricky, most of them are universally loved, and you can always pick a few that even a 3yo enjoys (most notably the fly-swatting one is a huge hit).

For Carnival Island, you should have them try the demo at least. It's quite fun. Dance games are also a good idea generally. My son loves DanceStar Party, but I'm sure Just Dance 3 is also a good choice (though I haven't tried the PS3 version of that yet, just the Wii version at my niece). Beat Sketcher is also decent, you can also try the demo for that one, but as mentioned it will likely require an adult being present for the kids to enjoy it, though from 6-7 years old I've noticed kids can really play around with it by themselves. The full game has a bunch of 'color-book' style pre-sets that you can paint over, which helps a lot making it more fun for smaller kids.

Finally, Singstar is also very popular with kids, partly because it's supported the camera since day one, but also if you have access to a version that is tailored to kids. I don't know if there's one for you in that respect but we have a big studio for childrens programmes, and they've released one that contains most of the popular songs from their shows with videoclips, and my son loves that one.

Not a Move game, but check out the co-op playable platformer Tales from Space: About a Blob. That one appeals a lot in style. It gets too hard for a 3yo quite fast, but if the 5yo or an adult carries the game, even the 3yo may enjoy himself. But my son also loves just watching me play the game. Same for the nice and colorful Joe Danger, which he also plays himself, and he's getting half-decent at it.

And of course Rayman: Origins is also not a Move game, but absolutely fantastic. My son loves it, and it's also very forgiving, at least the first few worlds, when you are playing co-op.

These are just the things I've currently been playing with my son. I'm probably forgetting something here and there, if I think of something I'll check back in. But if you get just one title, I'd say get Start the Party.

EDIT: Da Blob 2 has some Mario Galaxy style co-op options, with the difference that one player can play with navcon/controller and Move, and the second player can grab a second Move controller to do some point-and-click interactions, which worked quite well with my son too.

Cool thanks guys, their internet here is kinda wonky so I can't really try demos. I just saw Start The Party for $18 so I grabbed it. I'll grab some others over time. My niece loves Eyepet, it's hilarious watching her play it :)
