I'm compiling a list of games that support Quick Resume and games that don't currently support Quick Resume. Please post games in your library that aren't on this list, and I will update the original post to include them in alphabetical order. I will do my best to keep the list up to date and orderly.

I ask that for games that don't currently support Quick Resume, that you please test the games again after an Xbox System Update to see if the games then support the feature.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Quick Resume here are two demo videos of the feature at work.

Be careful when running multiple tests on an unstable Quick Resumable game. It will sometimes cause the entire console to crash.

Question: What is "quick resume"?

Instead of exiting the game, the system instead saves the current game state to internal storage before closing the game.

Then, when you resume playing that game, instead of starting the game as you would normally do, you instead just start up that game state and you are back in the game at the exact moment when you chose to quit playing the game.

NOTE - that this should only work on games that aren't in a multiplayer instance/game mode. So, for example, it wouldn't work in an MMO or in the middle of a COD multiplayer match.

Thanks for the list.

There's many hidden features in XS. It'll be great if quick resume, fps boost, usb external storage, etc are clearly labeled in the game icon or at the very least in the game store page.

Darkest Dungeon worked but no longer works
Art of Rally doesn’t work

Forza Horozon 4 and PES2021 both work but you can have network issues when going back into the game

A bit OT but PS5 needs this feature

Darkest Dungeon worked but no longer works

That's weird. I wonder why it worked and no longer doesn't.

I am not using, as in relying, on Quick Resume at all on my Series X. Unless I'm missing something in the UI, it feels too easy for a game to be swapped out and unable to swapped back in with progress lost unless I saved previously - assuming it's a game you can save anywhere.

It's a great idea, but needs some work and some of that work needs to be on the part of developers and publishers.

Stranger in Paradise: Final Fantasy Origins Trial Version 2 is the first "Demo" that I have come across that supports Quick Resume. At 26 gigabytes this is more of a time limited Beta release. Going to test if this is stable and will update the list again.

None of them support Quick Resume. I also decided to not add Stranger to the list because the trial has ended and anything can happen between now and it's release. So I will likely put it on the list once it has been released.

Edit: For Astria Ascending, Quick Resume just started working for me 10/26/2021 so the list has been updated to reflect that. It was not working for me the day before that.

System update went out today. I have found no changes to the list in the latest system update.

There's not a system update that will change QuickResume compatibility. For new games it is up to the developers to use a minimum specified GDK and they need to flag their title as supporting this feature.

In the beginning they defaulted every title into it, but that caused issues so that is why they changed the behavior for older ganes. They have done broad compatibility testing for existing titles. The feature capability settings are distributed out of bands and not reliant on dashboard updates. It's a simple text-based json-like file that specifies things like FPS Boost, AutoHDR, and QuickResume support.

Functionally, the core feature is finished and done. It's on the games and game-engines now, where they need to make sure they support recovering from online connections being destroyed as well as different devices being connected such as controllers and headphones.
