GT 5 Prologue this fall, Gran Turismo 5 spring 2008

Mix Burnout-like nextgen crashes + online play + nextgen AI + all famous exotic carbrands + frantic pitstop GT Vision action into the already worldfamous GT-gameplay and their huge carbase, and you have the perfect racer that will be untouchable again.

They need to focus/replicate the good things that always worked out well for GT (carbase, gfx, replays, racefeeling), and innovate on the bad, boring and missing things. Otherwise FM2 will take the crown for nextgen speed-racing.

Spent about an hour on it last night. Amazing is all I can say.

Not a hint of slowdown anywhere (apart from in replays), there supposedly was a little bit in the original Japanese demo.

If it didnt, thats just another reason the GT series is starting to get dated on the gameplay side :???:

How far do you want them to go? even Forza took a middle road with the choice of "damage model" (was there any races where it was forced to full damage?) most likely because of the Car manufactors. Flipping a car in any racing game and really wrecking them is very unlikely to ever happen if they got licensed cars.

I hope GT will feature damage like it should be, with nice cosmetics and a real world attitude. If you crash you car at 100 mph you wont see the finish line and you will pay the costs of a new car or have to start the season all over.

Well Kaz wants to incorporate realistic damage and not cosmetic damage or semi realistic ala forza and if PD can't do it i doubt we will see any damage at all in GT5.

Personally I’m hoping for weather effects, day to night time shifts on long races, descent AI, online play, more then 6 cars on the track at the same time and even longer career mode and option to play it online.

It may well be a sly hint that they are redoing it completely and creating th best damage ever seen in a game....if anyone knows how to do it, they do :)

Would be nice if that happened

Not too far. I know theyre aiming for perfection, but ffs, no damage at all is disappointing.

Just me, but I cant find photorealistic bumper cars "fun" vs somewhat cartoony looking game with damage affecting races (sorry, didnt mean to start a vs, mods  )

Even just minor damage than can cause a vehicle to handle/perform different for the duration of the race is ok by me. Not having it at all for perfection reasons just seems silly.

Whatever the case may be, we'll just have to see when more info comes or when the game itself comes out  . For now though, theres hardly anything that has me excited about this game

Under this logic Forza etc are already just as dated. None of these games present anything new in the damage department. Not even a seriously impactful one. Its unrealistic and they do it almost identically to what has been done before since the PS1 days.

Forza's damages feel "fake"

Personally when I d play the next GT (or any other sim) I want my car to show REAL damage. In reality the slightest bump affects the car's course, handling and damage. GT has no damage, but Forxa doesnt have any real damage either.

When I playied Forza on XBOX1 I didnt feel like it had the appropriate damage to feel any better than GT. Well actually I have to say that I still prefer GT's feel but anyways.

For me GT is a serious driving simulation and when I ll see damage on that game I want to see damage that affects my car like the real thing not half ass work just to present "damage". And I am sure GT's lead developer feels exactly the same. I remember his interviews and he always stated that he had a passion for cars and that his dream was to create a driving game which is as perfect as possible. Compromises like unreaslistic damage dont fit for this game. Especially HIS game

You have obviously not been keeping up with Forza 2. Go find some videos, watch them, listen, and get ready for a great racer.

I rather have some damage that affects the cars handling to a certain point than no damage system at all. This makes you care more about bumping into other cars and road obstacles.

Photorealistic bumber cars being GT i presumed and Cartoony damage being Forza.

If you play GT4 the "right way" you don´t have bumper races, you don´t cheat you dont race in over powered super cars against Ford-T models. As someone likes to say over and over again, consumer choice, sorry it´s a player choice.
If you pick the "right way" the experience is really mindblowing :)
