Yes I know I read "Xbox Series consoles were the #1 selling platform in the UK"
But Im saying here in spain, where also the series X is also scarce & series S abundant like the UK, the breakdown between the two is pretty even, so its not guaranteed that the S is greatly outselling the X.
Also keep in mind the average british person is richer than the average spainard

I'm not sure why you think the x will still outsell the s. We don't have numbers so MS can just be supplying more series s consoles since they can make more of them per wafer. Just because there is enough supply to meet demand or exceed it doesn't mean it's just sitting on shelves.

Xbox doing well this generation, users might jump ship to xbox because of gamepass aswell, i see quite many comments on YT/fb where people either consider it/want to or have done so, atleast for the people that havent got their hands on a 'next gen' system yet. Some arguments are the high-cost of games, aswell as MS having quality (AA/AAA) games coming (or already here) something which was abit lacking last time.

Locally in sweden the XSX is more aftersought than the XSS.

Will only pick up more steam when Activision / blizzard games are on game pass day 1. I know a bunch of people who buy COD yearly. Some have already approached me for xbox series x consoles. Some of them already have ps5s but said with the games MS already released and announced plus the activision stuff they would be pretty dumb to buy yearly releases of Cod on playstation when they can just sign up for game pass.

It's going to be an interesting few years in the console world. We haven't even seen Nintendo's next move

There was alot of discussions around the hardware advantage XSX has over the PS5 pre-launch (speculation topics), but i dont think that is the most important factor anymore. Seems that MS's trojan horse/weapon is gamepass, i personally never thought anything positive around it but that view has changed to the positive side now. With games being as expensive as they are, in special the AAA from sony with the price hike this generation together with the world economics these days, GP is a very good proposition.
It is not only that but MS has their focus where it should be this generation, games (AA and AAA aswell as indies), competitive hardware which last time they didnt, aquistion of large studios etc.
In special the AAA blockbusters was something that was lacking last gen for them, now seeing what they have in the line-up, they are atleast very competitive this generation, if not having the upper-hand.

For PS the traditional system/strategics still works for them so they'l soldier on with that. Though they are feeling the pressure as they are focusing more on live services and subscribtions aswell, more then ever before. I dont remember the numbers but it was quite many games that were supposed to launch on their live service before 2026 or so. Sony is obviously seeing where things are going.

I think people just want to play some games, and the consoles are close enough in performance that people are willing to get whatever is available in their price bracket. MS coming out and dumping loads of supply will benefit them in the long run here, a lot of people will stay for game pass.

With EA, Xcloud and Game pass tied in together and a future available service of ubisoft + (not rolled in) it's a single destination for a lot of games on budget to a lot of different customer bases

I think the writing is on the wall for the more traditional single player games. There is only the original sale to make money from. I think more and more games will become GAAS. I think having it all under one subscription is smarter than having a bunch of GAAS games that all require their own buy in .

You right. A lot of people post prices of resale sites but at the end of the day a unit sold through to the end user is a unit that is actively making money for the company. For MS closing the last generations market share gap is important for the growth of game pass. It will make it easier for them to get games on game pass and will make it harder for other companies to money hat or do marketing deals for the content.

I have a feeling MS is going to keep pushing lots of consoles through this holiday. They are going to have a strong year of releases that will drive it.

The breakdown of Xbox Series (S and X) sales in Spain is known?

But also angrier because having voted for Brexit, they can not go to Spain as easy!!

Microsoft Store UK has had Series X available for 10 days now according to stock tracker - https://www.stockinformer.co.uk/stockhistory.aspx?hid=5603
So it is! :runaway: It also looks like the only UK retailer that has them reliably. Perhaps Microsoft should transfer stock to Amazon because I doubt the Microsoft Store is probably not on most people's go-to places to buy goods.

I think play-once SP games are still a good idea, but perhaps included in something like gamepass. They should and probably will continue existing just in a smaller market. It is going to be harder and harder to keep getting profits on these large AAA sp blockbusters using custom own engines, unless people are willing to pay more and more for shorter games. Now with UE5/unity etc, we will see amazing graphics/engine tech not just from the likes of insomniac, but 3rd party studios aswell which is a good thing. Yes this generation is abit meh, but theres also alot of good things happening which paint a good future for gaming. A much better one than 8th generation did.

Don't overlook DLC expansions. The most successful single-player games of all time have been supported over time through DLC. What would be the financial incentive for a publisher to create new content if the GaaS model means no new income because the content is provided under GamePass or PS+ ?

Why wouldn't they continue to get paid by more content on game pass ?

Many games included in GamePass do not include any DLC or additional content. There is an FAQ about this on the Xbox Support website.

Do I buy downloadable content separately?

Xbox Game Pass members can purchase DLC and consumables for Xbox games at up to 10% off the Microsoft Store price while the game is in the Xbox Game Pass catalogue. Game Pass discounts can’t be combined with other offers and are not redeemable for cash. Discount offers exclude games within 30 days of their launch and are based on the Microsoft Store price.
I discovered this with Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, which includes the base game but none of the DLC. You have to pay for all of that, and it's cheaper to buy the complete GOTY editions on disc than it is to buy the DLC from the Microsoft Store.

Yes in the weekly spanish numbers they do a breakdown between series X & S, same in Japan as well
Spain
last week X = 650, S = 700
week before X = 650, S = 1000
Japan
last week X = 246, S = 144
week before X = 2936, S = 618

Yes There are a lot of older brexiteers here who own houses in both countries so they can enjoy both lifestyles, and after brexit they found oh now UK is not part of the EU they now cant freely move between both countries , lots have had to sell their houses and just choose the one country, talk about shooting themselves in the foot. Of course they will never admit they made a dumb mistake

Fascinating figures, there is not consistent pattern. I'm assuming this isn't Microsoft but a trade body reporting this?

The xbox series consoles will most likely outsell all other xboxs combined by the end of teh generation

If it does, it'll be close. X360 moved ~1.66 million units in Japan. XBS consoles have now moved ~169 thousand units in Japan. Considering it's been about 1.5 years since launch, at this rate it would take another 13 or so years. :p

I think the more interesting question when it comes to Xbox for Japan is how well Xbox Cloud Gaming might do in Japan.

SB
