I just watched some videos but im kinda suprised I havnt seen anyone mention about the sound yet because imo its just horrible. You got a great looking game and than you suddenly hear something wich sounds like one of those petrol RC cars or some lawnmower instead of a massive V12 engine and it ruins the game.

:p

Not to mention they are still using the same countdown sounds from 63 years ago. :D

And stop posting silly teeny tiny comparison shots, taken with a camera, blurred, reduced resolution, etc. You can still see jaggies and horrid DOF bleeding, etc. Any game looks better when shown like that.

Does CELL simulate it for environmental effects? The cockpit view is not yet implemented, you'll see the result later...

I don't see how anyone can critique the audio after only seeing a compressed video of the game. That seems to be reaching pretty hard to find some fault.

I have no problem with the sound. I actually thought it was decent. Every car sounds different and authentic. It's accurate and informative - and this is important for both shifting and drifting.

It does not 5.1 channels or anything yet, but then its only a 600 some meg downloadable demo!

And it's replay pics, right?

We have PS3 owners here right? Somebody want to snap some gameplay shots of GTHD off an LCD? I think it'll give us a lot better idea than whatever we're looking at.

Rangers, in case you think no one responded to your request. I tried to take one using my 7.2 megapixel digital camera but it came out very blurry and washed out. You have to wait for someone else.

I just noticed that the car reflects the surrounding. I can see the top of the peaks reflected off my yelllow Evo while trying to stablize the car for some camera action. Other than that, not sure it will show much. The car is (too) small in 3rd person view.

Well I dont know wich GTHD you are playing but the sound is definatly not accurate or authentic. Dont they have that expensive district in Tokyo were you see alot of exotic cars? try to spot a Ferrari and listen for a bit and you will notice that GTHD doesnt sound anything like real life at all. Not only is the sound just wrong it also doesnt have any beef in it. It sounds more like a vauxhall astra with a hole drilled in the exhaust to make it noisy but you wont hear any power in it as you would hear with a nice V12.

This is what is should sound like http://video.google.nl/videoplay?docid=-8499664185123716279&q=599+sound

I dont know if youve actually heard a close to 600bhp V12 in real life, (aspecially one coming out of ferrari exhausts, Ferrari btw, spends more then £ 10,000,000 a year on sound designing on their exhausts), but it doesnt sound remotely close to what GTHD is offering.

Meh. The Ferrari is my least favorite car in the game. I don't drive it. Also in that video the sound environment is totally different. It's in a narrow alley between buildings. The game is in a wide wide open space ontop a mountain.

My neighbor has a Lamborghini. All I can say is its loud and I would never play a game in my living room at those volume levels. But I would think reproducing that sound would have a lot more to do with your audio equipment than the quality of the sample PD recorded.

If your neighbour has a Lambo than how can you say the sound in GTHD sounds real? it isnt the volume but the muscle the sound carries and GTHD just doesnt have that. You can turn up the volume all you want but it will still make a lawnmower sound.

offtopic: You must have a nice place if you live next to someone with a Lambo. Did you ever ask if you can have a ride with him in the car? that must be awsome.

I've heard a Ferrari V12 in person in an open street and GTHD doesn't even come close to the real thing.

Never could have figured out that coming from you.

Running out of ideas to bash any PS3 game?

I doubt any game has realistic car sounds. Feel free to prove me wrong though.

Its just a demo we are looking at here, and its already looking pretty darn good. Why don't we wait til GT5 and if the sounds ain't fixed by then, shame on them.

Uhm... Isn't that what the PD guys called it? You know, the demo... The one people are playing at the moment...? On their PS3s...?

no? because in the e3 press conference gt-hd is gt4 with high res textures and 1080p res.

well maybe they kept the classic system since there is not going to be a gt4 high res version (former gt-hd aka. gt-classic).

Edit: Oh and agreed. That Fiorano sounds terrible in GT. I drove a lot of cars, ferarris involved, most realistic ferrari engine sound in GTR1+2 and PGR3.

That's my point. The demo people are playing now is called GT:HD. The pictures posted on here are from the demo. Which is called GT:HD. Regardless of what GTHD was at e3...

Anal mode (but I know you like it ;-) ): It's called GT:HD Concept, now.

I'd have thought it was obvious that the engine sounds were placeholders from the PS2 GT series - seeing as they sound pretty much exactly like what I remember hearing* on GT4. I'm surprised at the number of people in here talking about how the environmental graphics and physics etc will improve, and yet nobody seems to be cutting the sound the same slack.

*Note: it wasn't my copy of GT4. So it's not from extensive listening that I have determined this - it does sound awful(ly familiar) though..

Can anyone point me to a download location of that video that is not a mp4 file?

From experience, the car sounds were quite dull in GT4, but have not heard enough of GT5 yet to pass any judgement. Also, the engine noise, regardless if sitting in a Ferrari or a Vauxhall Astra is a whole lot less exciting than the sound that goes out at the back.
