It's actually kind of weird that they didn't seem to put too much effort into selling PSVR. It was largely a PS4 Pro event. They sort of mentioned that PSVR would be better on PS4 Pro, saying the images would be more "crisp" or something, or have better framerate. So I guess they're expecting PS4 to use reprojection and PS4 Pro to render all of the frames? If that's the case, then I don't think I'd touch PSVR on PS4. Yah, I mean, October 13th release date. That's really soon. They really didn't use this event to hype it up for launch, but maybe that's just because of how hard it is to demo, without actually using it.
The UHD BluRay thing is only news because it's Sony. They're kind of seen as the flag bearer of BluRay, so it's just surprising. Personally, I'd buy consoles without optical drives. There's very little chance that I buy a disc-based game from here on, and zero percent chance I buy or rent a BluRay disc. Like, I'd rather save $5 and buy a bag of chips and a drink with my console than buy a disc drive I'll never use.
I think PS4 Pro is going to be incredibly successful at that price. It'll be interesting to see what % of the overall PS4-line sales that it gets. Is it going to be a 50-50 split with PS4 slim from here on? Either way, it's a good option for gamers at a good price.
