Pic of MOTOGP 2006

In my opinion, it doesn't look that much more impressive than the previous incarnations on the Xbox. I guess this will change as the game nears release though?

Ok, the colours, lighting and general details are more impressive but my major complaint of the Moto GP games is the lack of 'life' in the backgrounds. They all seemed very plain and flat - This seems to be the case again?

Quite fun games though although there was very little progression in gameplay mechanics between each version. The first one though was deemed to be one of the best (if not the best) motorcycle racing games. Hopefully they can make a similar step up with this one.

Well if the Bizzare Creations does a PGR3 with motorbikes then you would see something like that CG render.:D
... on xbox3, at 2010.... :D
that is simply beyond xbox360 capabilities, even for Bizarre... even at 30fps ;)

If we were talking about 20 motorbikes with that level of detail onscreen yes, however, with say six at that level of detail at any single instance it can get pretty close with Bizzare at the helm on Xbox360. Remember that PGR3 is a first generation game. ;)

I totally agree. The cars in PGR3 look as good as those bikes right now. The Xbox 360 could most definitly do that game in it's life time. No question.

I agree with PCE, except maybe less AA. But this level of quality should appear on XB360 and PS3 racing games down the line I expect. Certainly the GT series should be looking this good if it gets the same insane amounts of investment as usual.

I don't think Bizarre has the artistic talent to make them look that good. Neither PGR1, nor part 2 nor even part 3 has shown that they have the flair to achieve that kind of realistic look. If anyone, then Polyphony.

To be honest PGR3 is pretty close to that now though. And the game is 1st gen.

erm, no. I'll spare this thread from going into details, but simply looking at a few actual recent screenshots (not old renders) and you'll see that the PGR3 cars still lack that realistic touch and portrait that plastic artificial look - which in my book is fine as PGR always had it - but to say that they have the same/similar detail, lighting and art-direction present as in the above rendered screen that PC-E linked... No.

Well that's your opinion. I strongly believe that the render is totally possible next gen. There is no reason why it can't be. So I guess we agree to disagree.

Phil wasn't saying it's impossible quality next-gen, just not by Bizarre. Quote 'If anyone, then Polyphony.' It has an air of disbelief, but he's not making a case as to why that image is impossible regardless of machine and dev.

sort of unrelated but I always liked the PC version of MGP better than Xbox. This game really stands out is when your up close to your monitor in first person view. Feels like you're actually on the bike.

I think the reason for the ho hum graphics is probably because they're still targetting midrange PC's.

Oh ok I see now. Cool.

I think Polyphony could pull it off. after looking at the ps2 tourist trophy shots...

hell, in some shots, it looks like they are already there :D

its something about the lighting in the GT engine that makes everything seem so realistic. even though pgr3 has amazingly high details and polycounts, i think the lighting needs to be tweaked a bit to be called anything near realistic. they definately improved over pgr2's lighting/shadows, ( http://media.xbox.ign.com/media/482/482233/img_2224685.html <--if you know what i mean) but still needs work. Yea we'll see what the "ingame" footage of Trophy actually looks like, replay footage and ingame footage for Poly has always been a huge difference. These shots pfTrophy is so far beyond anything available this generation on any platform I would be VERY surprised if it looked like that when you were playing.
