New Xbox 360 reviews tonight!(Kameo, Madden, PGR3, COD2)

Nice review on pgr3 at ign.
The only thing i want to know is what's the "next generation gameplay of a racing car". If your are playing with a controller, i really don't see what type of gameplay you can expect ... Playing realistic in-car view with a wheel is really sthg that has never been done on any console before.

i dont see whats the deal with calling pgr3, pgr2.5
Every racing game sequel from a generation to another should be called like this if we follow the way they think. GTA3=GTA2.5 in this case.
You can't make a RR game to be played like GTR on PC ...

Yep and I can already see stupid boys that are fans of Sony bragging saying that the PGR3 is 2.5. *shakes head* Well at least I seen a jump and I only seen the videos. Does the game play and look worst in person?

I'll make a counterpoint.

Since 90% of current Xbox owners are not on Live the review should focus on the single player, and Live, if factored in at all, should just be worth a single point on the final review score.

Online play is clearly going be a large part of this generation. What does the adoption rate of XBL need to be before we start factoring these (r)evolutionary online features (Gotham TV, co-op in PD0, etc) into reviews?

I'm not saying it should be half the score but at least account for it in some way. These reviews ignores Gotham TV toally which could be a revolutionary feature for online gaming.

I agree entirely. I don't feel it's about adoption rate of XBL per say, but more to do with genre. For example: Halo 2's most important feature was online multiplayer. While some were disappointed by the single player, the excellent online multiplayer was highly regarded amongst critics and reflected in their reviews as such. Unfortunately I guess we don't hold online features for other genres to that same esteem.

I guess i'm just miffed because neither IGN or 1up could have played the game online. Maybe its just more of the same, maybe its revolutionary, with these 2 reviews we'll never know :/ . Since Bizarre has been touting how great the new online system was, the least they could do was give it a spin before putting up a review, or say they will update it on the 22nd when XBL goes online.

why cant they play it online? they have the 360... I am sure they can play online against other reviewers also playing the game, which is what they do pretty often.

The new XBL for the 360 is not up yet.

It seems that in averange the reviews are low for a console lauch (>9), till now at least, it seems that the XB lauch had been much better (at least it had a lot of new and god names).

X360 is getting more underwhelming..just as the excitement of launch nears...

The reviews are disappointing me.

It seems like everything around the machine is great, the console design, Live, Xbox arcade, controller, all great. It just lacks shader power due to EDRAM. Therefore the graphics are not good enough for "next gen". The PGR 3 review says at 480P it looks more like an Xbox game! Sad that most of the power got soaked up just by increasing the res.

MS is about to find out what kind of doom that means..

Maybe next gen they wont disrespect the hardware side of things.

No they upgraded the gamercards and the backend stuff but you cant play games on live until the 22nd. Regardless, even if they did play it they make zero mention of it which, imo, is the same thing.

That's about the most stupid comment I've heard here since the System Wars forum came back up.

Interesting we agree in something.

Bill you cant just say that it does not have shader power, and even less because of the Edram, basead n a review of a game that had 2-3 mouths in final HW, coming from a much weaker one etc... you need to prove it basead in something plausible at the very least (math, dev comments, good game comparations very late in the end of the gen etc...).

They raved about madden but cut it to 8.2 becuase they removed features for crunch time.
Kameo was too short but had amazing visuals.
PGR3, well i dunno, lack of advancement in driving games but with stunning visuals.
Early COD2 reviews are 5/5 and 9.4 and that it looks/plays better than high end PCs.

Lacks shader power due to EDRAM?

No offense but, what the hell are you talking about? :)

The games are getting eigth's and high eights for launch games that's amazing.

Seriously m8 when you're gonna say things like that it only gonna make you seem dumb just don't say anything then.

I've seen PGR3 myself and on 480p it sure does look worse than on 720p but look like a Xbox 1 game hell no!

Sure 720p is heavier on the Xenos than 480p but so is 1280x1024 on a 7800GTX 512MB than 1024x768.
Higher resolution means more pixels and thus leave less pixels for other things.

I sure hope you're getting towards the PS3's superior hardware cause the PC (even the highest end) will be nothing compared on screen.

Sure the PS3 is more powerfull but saying Microsoft didn't tought about powerfull hardware is ludicrous.
The XBox 360 is very very very powerfull it's just that the PS3 is unbelievably powerfull it eclipses the 360's hardware but the 360's hardware is in no way weak or mediocre.
Compared to the most high end PC hardware it's a lot more powerfull.

And you base this power of the CELL I guess? The unproven, theoretical peak power of the CELL? Lets wait and see how these 2 CPU's compare in the real world!

I don't see anything else in PS3 that could possibly be considered unbelievably powerful, RSX? Not unless we're all in for a huge surprise.
