New Xbox 360 reviews tonight!(Kameo, Madden, PGR3, COD2)

Has anyone reviewer even confirmed having a retail version of PD0? Seems like it's still in development or something...

It doesn't ship until tomorrow and web sites aren't allowed to post reviews until it is on store shelves.

X360 is getting more underwhelming..just as the excitement of launch nears...

The reviews are disappointing me.

It seems like everything around the machine is great, the console design, Live, Xbox arcade, controller, all great. It just lacks shader power due to EDRAM. Therefore the graphics are not good enough for "next gen". The PGR 3 review says at 480P it looks more like an Xbox game! Sad that most of the power got soaked up just by increasing the res.

MS is about to find out what kind of doom that means..

Maybe next gen they wont disrespect the hardware side of things.
The first part of your post is an opinion, I can't discuss that.
On the other hand your "technical" explanation can be considered as flamebait, seeing how it barely makes sense. Please refrain, next time.

wtf how did tony hawk get a 8.3 on ign and kameo only a 8.4

Wtf

The only real upgrades you'll see in the game at all, content or graphics-wise, are better textures, a subtle bit of normal mapping and a tad bit better lighting effects

So they are fine with this being just a port with better textures but then they attack pgr3 for being to much pgr2.5 whlie the amount of gameplay changes in pgr3 are far greater than the few graphical updates seen in american waste land ?

Wow that is just poor

Ya that's pretty skewed, especially when I hear the new TH game is crazy-short.

Oh well, that's what you get when you have 2 completely different people review 2 different games.

It's strange that most reviews are knocking kameo for being short, but I haven;t seen one that said they had actually upgraded every monster and their full set of moves.

I know it's rushed, 1 or 2 consoles to review 18 games with, but it's wierd to knock a game for length when you can't even give an accurate number for the total length of the game w/ sidequests.

Dont beleive it. The visuals in Kameo are phenomenal and it has technique on par Zelda WindWaker.
I don't believe it , i've played the full version of the game , we have it in our kiosk . My friend is at 19 hours nad counting for the game .

I just don't get how in one game they mention the gameplay is exactly the same as last gen versions of the game and the graphics are only slightly improved and then go ahead and knock another game like pgr3 for being to much pgr2.5

The reviews simply don't make sense

And no XBL in any of the reviews for games that feature it (i.e. PGR3).

I guess reviewers had to cut corners too since they only had 2-3 days with final software...

;)

i saw the fifa 06 ad on the tv and the player mechanic are shite, they look and move like plastic, but having said that if EA give the best soccer game on the next gen they wouldnt better the fifa 2007. all i can say is look out for Pro evolution.

Sounds like Gamespot is going to score PGR3 very well.

Today they put up a new hands-on and it was very very complimentary.

I am guessing 9.1 from gamespot.

I just watched a video showcasing London, New York, Tokyo and Nurburgring and that raised my "want" for Project Gotham Racing 3 to astronomical levels.

I'm also starting to look at Perfect Dark 0 more closley. The word i'm hearing is that the single player mode is kinda lackluster but it has the potential to be amazing online with 32 person Deathmatches.

So for me it would be...

  • Project Gotham Racing 3 (Offline/Online)
  • Perfect Dark 0 (Just Online)
  • Call of Duty 2

To be sure, Gotham TV, as the Bizarre team has dubbed it, plays a big role in the 360 version of the game--it gives you a chance to not only view your saved replays, but also watch some of the best racers in the world show their stuff on PGR 3's cosmopolitan lineup of courses.

There are so many other things to talk about in PGR 3--the extensive online play, the course editor, and much more. Rest assured, we'll be taking a look at all of these features in preparation for our upcoming review.

Finally someone getting it right and not rushing out a review just for the sake of it! I think the other sites not including online in their reviews is a definite strike against them. Have i mentioned that yet? ;)

I'm happy that their really looking into all aspects also. It seems that alot of game journalists were in a rush to get their reviews out as fast as possible and not really looking at everything possible. I expect this for all console launches though :(

They've always given TH series high scores (mostly 9 and above), PGR series has also scored high (8.8 PGR and 9.5 PGR2), so actually they're just being very consistent.
Maybe they just like the TH gameplay better than PGR, looking beyond the graphics.

IMO it's fair enough to say, especialy in a review, the length of the game as it is when you've completed the main quest, with the average amount needed to upgrade your stats.
How many players bother to max out their stats after completing the main bulk of the game, just for the sake of maxing out and possibly some "bonuses" like extra costumes for the characters etc..

The majority of games offer similar "extended gametime" after all.
For example a game like Silent Hill 3, where you could open up new costumes and some cutscenes after you'd completed the game once, if you played it again and achieved certain goals. The length of the game is still the length you play it for the first time through.
Or game like Ratchet and Clank 2, would you say the length of the game is when you've earned all the skill points and upgraded your weapons to gold versions, that are not necessary for completing the game?

I don't think xbox360 games should all of a sudden be treated differently, that would be giving them pity points.
Relax, the scores are very good for the xbox360 launch games as they are now, there's no need to artificially bump them all up to the 9's ;)
