New Xbox 360 reviews tonight!(Kameo, Madden, PGR3, COD2)

http://media.xbox360.ign.com/articles/666/666900/vids_1.html

here they open up the xbox and go through the hardware and its features , looks pretty good

Anyway for kameo the ign review is up with my personal ideas of the game execpt the length of it. Of course we haven't beaten it yet so i can't comment on length.

The game is highly fun and while sometimes it feels like a gamecube game , remember it is a launch game and as a launch game its alot of fun and really polished .

In many ways i think it was better than sonic adventure at the dreamcast launch.

As for pgr3 well that is a good review damn haha

I'm waiting on pdz . I'm hoping it gets around an 8-9

You're so full of it.

making yourself look like an ass.
That's uncalled for, Hardknock.

Insults of any kind are not contributive to anything but making more noise.
Also, if some of you have personal problems, take it to PM.
And if you cannot agree on anything just ignore each others (I know that it's already the case, but that discussion should have been private, not occuring in the middle of something else).

Now, everybody chill.

Anyway, the only reviews I consider as worth the time reading would be Gamespy and Gamespot's ones, and that not all the time (Gaming journalism being an oxymoron as everybody know).

Personaly, most of the time I just check Gameranking et follow the links to some of the reviews that give the game a good score and those that give it a lesser score.

So can anyone cherrypick notable beyond3d-ish checkpoints from those reviews, such as visual effects/frame rate/loading time/online experience and so on?

Well kameo is about an 8 if you factor in what various reviews say. The lowest score seems to be from 1up and they mostly bash rare in that review and say how short the game is. However they admit they didn't spend time upgrading thier creatuees or the side quests . Most sites gave it a 4 out of 5 or a solid 8.5 + So factoring 1up its a solid 8 - 8.5 depending on your tastes .

Pgr got a 10 from one site and from what i heard on the ign video of it (they gave no score) its most likely going to get a 9 .

Madden gets an 8 from most sites as its missing alot of features from the old maddens as its a launch game , although the graphics look good .

Usually length of a game is not a problem with me. Since I don't have that much time for gamming, even 10 hour games can take me for ever to finish, not to mention that I always tend to take much longer to finish games that the reviewers, many times I wonder how they can review a game by just breezing through it...

I don't generally judge games by their length (a good example is Price of Persia)... but consider the fact that that game began development in 2001. That makes for roughly 2 hours of gameplay per year of development. Ouch, I was really hoping for something pretty epic out of this game.

As far as the allegation that Nintendo fans were praising Rare until they switched to Microsoft and then started picking them apart... I know my friends had already become sick of waiting on Rare long before Nintendo dumped them.

that doesn't factor in any time it spent gonig from console to console

You had a change from the cube to the xbox and then to the xbox 360.

They most likely had to spend time adapting to the diffrent hardware and also redoing alot of the art work

Also don't forget that none of the side quests were done in the reviews , they just did the main quest

Rare turned from great to terrible the minute they went to MS.

More or less.

I dont remember them being much but praised with Nintendo.

Jet Force Gemini, Donkey Kong 64, DKC3 (oh how I hated you), and Star Fox Adventures were all the targets of quite a few fan complaints despite glowing reviews. My impression is that they got very fetch-questy at the end of the SNES life cycle. I bought my first N64 a few months ago with 4 Rare games (PD, GE, JFG, CBFD), and I'm literally appalled at how bad the framerates are. Conker especially gives me a massive headache if I play for too long. F-Zero X, Mario 64, Mariokart, and Star Fox just don't have that problem.

I finished Morrowind in 9 hours sticking to just the main quest. I've known people who put 200 hours into it and haven't finished it yet.

Kameo has plenty of adventuring gameplay, but you've got to adventure, you can't stick to just the main quest.

yup at the store we have over 15 hours in the game , there are a ton of side quests we haven't even touched and we are far from finished on the main quest.

I'm guessing you can get a good solid 30 hour s from the game

I can't comment on GE and JFG as I never played either; but yeah, boyh PD and CBFD both had pitiful framerate.

The expansion pack offered better graphics and smoother gameplay all the same.

As long as bringing up a developers previous efforts arent factored into the score or the analysis of the game in question, i think its fine (its mostly a waste of space IMO but fine). However if a reviewer uses previous developer efforts as a way of generating criticizm on the current game its bad journalism, imo.

Problem i have with the 1up review overall is that about 30% of it is spent talking about Rare and not the game, to me thats a problem. Youve got 1 page to express your thoughts on a $60 10-hour experience and you spend 1/3rd of the time writing about the history and habits of Rare? Who cares, its information that has no impact on the THIS game. I want to know about THIS one, not their last 4, their first one, best one, etc.

If the guy thinks it was a "7" thats fine with me, but it does appear like he draws on some history to get there, which devalues the review IMO.

If you want Madden 06 with all the bells and whistles (season mode, owner mode, and mini-camp drills), then stick with the regular version of the game that you have for your consoles at home. But for the casual Madden players, the football fans playing Madden in barbershops across the country, the guys that just want to play the game and talk trash to one another, Madden NFL 06 for the Xbox 360 is a must-have game.

 I wasn't going to get this title but, that's what I wanted to hear.

I could not care less about the "missing" features.

I'm in. Now if only PD0 returns some good reports on multiplayer... :D

The expansion pack wasn't even an option for single player, you had to have it or else you were stuck with only multiplayer.

I'm commenting on the fact that 1UP were NEVER a good website to base our opinions over (no website is afterall). It seems however that the site has received lots of attention and has become reputable after a few baseless reports that some people liked very much because they put their favourite company under a better light.?

Wow. Is that really how you see things?

At the time of that thread 1UP was the only site that had sat down and done an in-depth roundtable disucission about COD2. 3 Editors from the site were involved, one was Che who is the main guy from 1UP and is generally accepted to be very good and balanced, another of the guys was the PC Editor for the site, meaning he reviews PC games all the time.

There were 2 other sites at the time that discussed framerate, both agreed that it was a rock-solid 60FPS as well, one was TotalGames which was being dismissed, the other was TeamXBOX which also would have been dismissed.

Thus, it fell back to 1UP as they were the only source that could be accepted as non-biased. Now 1up is getting ripped apart as not being a legit gaming site. Last time I checked they've been invited to every major gaming event this year, they've had a retail X360 for over a month, they've had exclusive interviews with Silicon Knights, Bioware and Team NINJA, what more do you want?

No "company was put in a good light" as you say, it was a simple discussion about the framerate of the game between editors of 1UP. As for being "baseless"..umm.. they were "based" on them playing the game for hours on end. Just wanted to clear that up ... back to regularly scheduled programming...

I can't speak for 1up as I haven't payed much attention to the site, but I'm dissapointed that the "rock-solid 60fps" comments came out before the demo disks yet the demo disks show the game with less than what was suggested. The fact that there are points in the PC version of the game that drop me into the 20s even running with everything cranked all the way down would be something that would really sell me on the power of the 360. Granted I'm already sold on the console based on what I have seen of the demo's, but at the same time I have to doubt the "rock-solid 60fps" thing at this point.
