I don't see the need to download the US version
It should be the same, with or without the beta code, and the speed is insanely fast

I'm looking at about 1.5MB/s on my end
35% complete right now from UK PSN

My negative side tells me you'll get stucked at the 98% point.
I don't have time to play now anyway.

Shut up, you nanny :p

I'm at 84% now, still running fast

Edit: Download completed: I'll post some first thoughts after a while

My PSN downloads always chugg along despite me having a 20mb connection and using a wire not wireless.

Ohhhh the waiting......

First thoughts:

1. Guns make you feel the weight. The motion does not follow other FPS, so it takes time to get used to. It feels as if the other FPS follow a linear angle based aiming while Killzone 2 follows a more realistic acceleration based aiming. Result is a somewhat slow turn.

2. Graphics are so pretty that nickpicking is hard. Aliasing is basically unnoticable. Non-issue.

3. Motion blur makes a real "solid" feeling of feeling on the battlefield. It is identifyable everywhere.

4. Lighting is absolutely georgeous. Fires look good, really good.

5. Guns are relatively inaccurate. less of the "use submachineguns as sniper rifle" stuff that COD series generally has

6. Cover system feels good. Allows for a lot of time to peek around and slowly aim.

7. Interesting animations. Basically as advertised

8. Enemies as well as allies make real good use of cover. I've seen enemies jump over railings in the midst of battle, try to flank me, and even grenade me after I cover and shot for quite a while.

9. Startup screen has some interesting effcts added. Not sure if a plus or a minus but interesting indeed.

10. Not sure why, but I don't see a minimap or anything to tell you where to go. I'm not used to this but I can handle it. I hope casual gamers don't get lost.

11. Friends actually try to do some tactics when cooperating. I saw my teammate run up front to assault when I was covering and shooting.

Does Killzone2 wash your car or mow your lawn?

CAn you change sensitivity? And does it affect aiming speed or does the weight restrain that quite a bit?

:D :D :D

elaborate?

You have obviously not played CoD. Nobody uses a SMG as a sniperrifle in CoD.
I have played every single CoD installment, and while you technically can try to snipe with an SMG, the sniper rifles (and other long range weapons) are much much much more effective (and accurate) what your talking about is completely a non issue in CoD. If anything in previous CoD's the sniper rifles have been overpowered.

1. I did not mention geow...

2. Nobody is saying that you have to be innovative. If anything I said there are plenty of good games that aren't innovative..

3. Just because a review says it's not innovative, that does not mean they don't think the game is great.. People need to stop being so damn defensive.

I know you didn't. I did . it's literally the closest competitor visually, and the hype for both is through the roof prior to release.

I'm not saying you have to be innovative or not. I am saying it's inappropriate for a journalist to pick and chose which games he wants to forgive for "not being innovative". You cannot give a handful of games high marks with no mention of not being innovative, and then hold that against Killzone 2 because the hype is astronomical.

All that says to me is the reviewer does not go into each game the same, nor does he have a consistent standard for all games. Basically, his word is now junk, and everything he said in his review, positive or negative, cannot be taken seriously.

I had to crank up the sensitivity a lot in the beta to actually play it competitively. It's fairly slow from the start, and I like my shooters to move pretty fast. It doesn't really effect your movement, just the speed you aim at. But it's still relatively accurate, the aim assist works really well, similar to Halo 3 or Resistance.

Ya it did. :D

You have obviously not played CoD. Nobody snipes with a smg in CoD.
I do. COD has some great accuracies built in when you aim. First two shots are basically spot on, and more often than not gives you a kill. Three shots will do it.

I didn't find myself using the aim function as often as I did when I played COD.
Repeated single fire instead of holding the fire button is better when you aim.

Anyway, that's more of a game mechanic thing, and is just a characteristic. Not too much to debate about IMO.

Also, Gun fire does cast real-time shadows. I've seen instances in which the enemy has lit up as a huge shadow on the wall behind himself due to his own fire. And Helghast helmets are breakable, showing their bald heads underneath.

Yes you can change sensitivity. Due to the "slowness", I turned it up to max and found it over-sensitive. It does get time to used to as the reviews have said. A couple more runs and I think I can capture it.

On the motion blur thing. I'm not exactly sure if it is the same thing, but when you sprint, there is a "tunneling effect" that gives you the sense of speed (much like star-trek movies?). It's hard to describe.

So yes we can crank up sensitivity :D

Can you crank it up alot? I usually have the highest sensitivity setting possible when i play fps games

Yea, you can crank it up quite a bit. I had to move it to the max setting so I would be comfortable, but I usually run and gun, so when I need to aim, I need to aim quickly.

That said, there's a pretty big difference, from my experience in the beta, from the slowest setting to the normal setting, and the normal setting to the max setting, so you should be able to adjust it to suit your comfort level quite easily.

Funny, I usually have to adjust the sensitivity down--I suck.

Otherwise, I get some horrible motion sickness really quickly. I'm glad to hear that the frame rate is smooth as well.

Hopefully, I'll get the code to download tonight.

It's a great demo, but sadly very short. The controls felt very good to me, but I have been playing the first Killzone recently. The enemies move around a lot, and often adjust their cover position to your angle of fire. The seem very smart. It's a shame the demo only lets you try the normal difficulty level.
