Halo 3 Beta: May 16th - June 7th

Still not anything like the target render.

First of all, it was a realtime demo not a target render.

And secondly, they look damn close:

It's obvious that these images are not rendered in realtime

nAo, you really need to start doing your research before making claims like this, because you're just plain wrong.

The Bungie representatives made it clear to us that the trailer was running in real-time on the Xbox 360. The trailer is set in the African desert, and it was taken from roughly a third of the way through the game.
...
he gave us a fly through of the locations in the trailer. The crater seen in the trailer is three miles across, and it's all rendered in real geometry.
...
The demo shifted away from the crater to the part of the level you see the Master Chief walking in from. He was controllable, which means that the trailer indicates just how good the game will look. Lehto was able to zoom in on the Master Chief with the camera, and you could see the many different ways light reflected objects onto him. For example, you could see light reflect off the ground and onto his armor.

I agree with you, but two posts saying the same thing is not necessary.

I also agree with nAo, in the case of these IMAGES. I'm guessing they were supersampled.

Yet they were able to control the character, and camera movement in realtime?

They could have a controllable demo that's just like this, except the level of AA present. That's all he's saying, I think.

AA-ed PR shots are hardly anything extraordinary these days anyway, I don't think we need come down too hard on them for that.

No offense but you need to calm down, relax, think twice and then reply before writing something that is not relevant to what I write, you did exactly the same in this very thread the other day.
I didn't say their trailer was not realtime, I said that those 2 images are not realtime.
Do you see the difference?

I think we have a misunderstanding, I thought you were referring to the '2 images' as in the one I had posted directly above you.

And you stepped into a conversation with Macabre referring to E3 as a 'target render', you can see how the confusion arised.

Nonetheless, the E3 demo was realtime, and these images look like the same character model, which is what I was pointing out.

I  irony.

Game seems to be coming along ok. Can't wait for the demo. Hopefully they realize the original draw of the franchise in the first place and build on that as a priority.

The first image is from the trailer, do you not realize that?
Coming from the trailer does not mean renderered in realtime. Edges and textures are basicly perfect, that means that image has being rendered with a huge number of samples per pixel, just not pratical for realtime rendering with current hw.

No one is coming hard on them, it's just that someone is a bit too sensitive to any comment about Bungie.

This must be like the fifth time you slyly accused anyone who disagrees with you as being a huge fanboy, drop the arrogance.

I'm not even a huge Halo fan, and it's certainly not at the top of my wanted games list.

Maybe take a look at the converation that was taking place when you posted your vague comment.

Check out my edit, I thought you were referring to the 'two images' I had posted above you, not the two images from the previous page. One of the images I posted was confirmed as being realtime, and I was responding to someone claiming the E3 demo was a target render, when you stepped in.

That's where the confusion arose.

No, I was talking about the images you posted above my comment (http://forum.beyond3d.com/showpost.php?p=977152&postcount=163)

I have no problem believing that their trailer was realtime, but that image is not, it really does not take a rocket scientist to know that. Now if you want to open your eyes and to start to think with your own head..check that image again and come back to me to explain how it can be possibly rendered in realtime.

Just so we're clear, you're saying this is not realtime?

It's funny, because at the time, I had to listen to PHil, another PS dev, tell everyone there's nothing special in that trailer, and anyone who thinks it's impressive is wearing 'halo-glasses', now you're saying there's no possible way it could be done in realtime...? Weird.

Edit - How do explain the comments from bungie?:
