Formula 1 - 2012 Season

Red Bull accused of cheating again, this time for switching ride height in parc ferme between quali & race

Marc Gené: In Canada they were acting like they were whipping down the car on the grid and when the marshal got suspicious and checked the rag there was a small tool they were hiding in it that fit in two holes next to the suspension.

FIA representative putting seal stickers on top of the holes claimed to be used for this

Redbull related:
hockenheim just before the champagne :

Jenson "seb the fia are investigating your overtake"

During the podium interview :
Niki Lauda "so seb jensen was unhappy about your overtake
vettel "really? he never said anything to me"

You little liar seb :D

Incredible latter part of the last stint on Kimi, he was some 3 secs behind 4th position before the guys before him pitted, after Kimi pitted he managed to come out 2nd and is now flying, catching hamilton 0,5 or more per lap

Oh well, 2nd for Kimi, Grosjean 3rd, good race for Lotus, but the track just sucks for overtaking, Kimi was a lot faster than Hamilton but simply couldn't get past him, probably least overtakes overall in the race this season

Yes, not overtake friendly track, but still good race!

I'm intrigued by Eric Boullier interview on Sky as he slip bit of news about their upcoming updates saying they will now start winning races or at least regularly fight for podiums  (if updates work as intended).

Well they have been testing the Mercedes-idea of "double-DRS", though their implementation is different, could give nice boost to straight speeds

He implied that straight line speed device in not the only exciting development they have in the pipe .
I have a feeling after holiday break we will get few surprises as Mercedes, RedBull and Ferrari will have to push hard with updates to catch McLaren and Lotus speed in hot races. That means they will have a chance to go wrong or come on top, but for sure order will change again this season.

Lotus have been saying for some time that their main problem is not the race pace its that their qualifying performance does not get them into a position to maximise the race pace so their focus is on improving the qualifying performance to get them further up the grid to start with.

Kimi drove a stormer, it was very impressive seeing him drive that second stint. I wish Kimi would have won, but at least Alonso extended his lead.

I seem to remember Hungary 2011 had more overtaking into T1, though.

Sure extended his lead by 6 points on Webber, but lost 2 points to Vettel, 8 point to Kimi and 15 points to Hamilton.

It'd be interesting if Hamilton had managed to have a clean race and get some point in the 2 races he didn't (same goes for the other guys, obviously :)).

So, with 9 races left. It's still quite possible for Webber, Vettel, Hamilton or Kimi to pass up Alonso if he doesn't managed to do better than 5th. But since Alonso has thus far been the most consistent driver, he's definitely still the favorite to win the WDC. :)

SB

Take that precious pettel!!!! Dont have enough fingers for eleven:LOL:

alonso qualified 6th and yet is in front of all the people he cares about......lol

Kimi's fastest lap was inspected by stewards for possibly shortcutting Eau Rouge, but no penalty was given.
Maldonado, on the other hand, was given 3 place grid penalty for blocking Hülkenberg earlier in the qualifying, pushing Kimi to 3rd spot

Looks like a dumb idea to go for downforce though as it looks like there will be no rain tomorrow. Hamilton and Kimi are screwed.

Dunno about Hamilton, but driving 4th fastest time tells the downforce isn't wasted on Kimi.
The problem is, they couldn't do tests on the "double-drs", so they can't really use it either - then the next best option is the "high downforce" as renault is just weaker than mercedes or ferrari engines are, so better take the time you can where you can rather than lose everywhere trying the same "low downforce" everyone is using

I don't think it was such a dumb idea. Looking at FP3 time, Button was half a second slower from p1 and Hamilton was half a second slower than Button. Basically lack of running on Friday made it harder to evaluate the wing properly and looking at FP3 time they probably think that the new wing didn't produce the result that they wanted so they take a more conservative approach by using the wing that they know.

The thing is that the new wing just clicked with Button, and if Button got a car that he likes he can be mightily fast. I don't think Hamilton can go as fast as Button even if he is using the new wing, but he probably can snatch 4th (3rd after Maldonado penalty). So yes, definitely a missed opportunity for Hamilton, but only looked dumb in a hindsight.

Right hamilton fucking up the race (and potentially some people's season). Is there any doubt left that hamilton is just a crazy loose cannon? the guy can't drive for shit. Can't wait who he'll be blaming this time.

Not Hamiltons fault, or at least not alone, Crashjean had a big part on it too
