Fall 360 dashboard update details

Seems different countries get different range of Xbox games available next week.

Some countries don't get Halo, some do.

From my research on visiting several xbox.com sites.
 
Why ?

I'd like "group" support, so I can just add something like a "Beyond3d" group, where all members of the board are automatically added to my friends list. This doesn't sound like that though :(

no, I mean if they add clan lists for games or "group" lists I'll love that (especially if it highlights a person from a forum or a game in a certain color when their name pops up on screen) but for people on your clan lists (which will be mostly a list of people you don't really know) if they let them check who I have on my friend's list, I'll block them because then they could go around sending stupid crap to random people on my friend's list or beg me to check out how many friends they have or something. It sounds like it could be an annoying feature and turn my friend's list into some huge myspace like thing and that's just annoying. I like the filtering options they give for who can check your friends though.
 
Yeah my "why" was as to why you'd not want to have friends of friends messaging you... and I can see your point.

I remember during the Halo3 pre-release madness when some jerks were adding people over XBL with their XBL handle spoiling the game's ending. You can't block that - all you can do is not sign on the Live.
 
On XBOX.COM (in your profile) there seems to be a bunch of new privacy settings for LIVE too. Or am I wrong?

Isn't stuff like 'Decide who you communicate with using voice and text on Xbox LIVE' new?
 
I know that steam has friends of friends type features now, and groups, and it works out great

but the live crowd does tend to be a bit more immature than the average PC gamers from my experience so it could go either way

Let's get the biggest news out of the way for the videophiles: Xbox 360 now supports MPEG-4, which means the box now plays both DivX and XviD files without a hitch. 1UP tested almost every variation of the format possible, including high-definition content as high as 1080P. All the files ran flawlessly, though Microsoft told us there's no guarantee all formats will be compatible -- but we imagine most will.

Very nice update, a lot of nice features!
Unfortunately, it seems they didn't add 16:10 resolutions for those using PC monitors.
 
Did anyone watch the video on 1up? They blurred the names of the peoples in the persons friends list but didn't blur the name of the friend chosen from the list to demo the friend's friends thing.
