Which shows XBOs is not reduced as much and isn't selling as well already...unless I'm missing something?
Both base units, PS4 and One S are hitting $200. Did they not have the same starting prices?

It's also tricky (well.. impossible) to determine a what if.. outcome but they could have been worse off if it wasn't so appealing. Do you want the competition's package to look more appealing? Hell, noIt's bizzare...it's like Sony is throwing away money - they didn't need to drop the price so low and pack in Spiderman.

From what i can gather, PS4 + Spiderman is $200 whilst XBOs is $230

Black Friday is a big sales period for hardware, and you'll often find exclusive games (particularly those bundled with the consoles) tend to perform strongly during the weekend. According to retailers talking to Gamesindustry.biz, more than 300,000 consoles were sold over Black Friday. It was pretty close between all three formats, but we understand that PS4 was the best-selling machine, narrowly ahead of Xbox One, which was narrowly ahead of Nintendo Switch. Over Black Friday, PS4 consoles were being sold at just over £220 (with bundles featuring FIFA 19 or Red Dead Redemption 2), Xbox One was on sale for as low as £170 with a game (including Forza Horizon 4, Minecraft or Battlefield V), while Nintendo Switch saw its first real price drop, falling by around £20 in price overall.
As a result, Xbox One exclusives such as Forza Horizon 4 (No.5), Minecraft Master Edition (No.33) and Forza Motorsport 7 (No.34) all shot up the charts, with sales rising 535 per cent, 1768 per cent and 573 per cent respectively.
PS4 exclusives Spider-Man (No.6), God of War (No.21) and Detroit: Become Human (No.35), saw sales rise 634 per cent, 1283 per cent and 826 per cent respectively.
EDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nintendo Switch set two new records from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday: It became the best-selling Nintendo console in U.S. history for that five-day period, surpassing even Wii system sales. Nintendo Switch also had its best-selling week ever in the United States. In fact, according to Adobe Analytics, Nintendo Switch was among the most-purchased items online on Thanksgiving Day and the overall top-selling video game product online for the Black Friday-Cyber Monday time period.
Switch Black Friday & Cyber Monday Performance
Glad to see Switch is doing good. Hopefully, Sony & Microsoft will release their respective BF/CM console performance PR soon.

PS4 Pro sales ratio remains relatively stable at 20% LTD, and 40% of them were upgraders. So on average 8% of unit sales have been uppgraders since nov 2016. It also means they sell 4M pros per year.
The mid-lifecycle upgrade of PlayStation 4 to PS4 Pro is a good example of necessary evolution. In enabling the community to upgrade mid-lifecycle it has allowed our most engaged players an even more immersive experience that compliments the latest advancements in TV technology.
We’ve found that around one in five PlayStation 4s sold has been a PS4 Pro since it launched and around 40 percent of these have been from existing players upgrading so it’s definitely having a positive impact on the industry as well as on our players.
Yeah the CTO said practically the same thing in 2014 or 2015. Then the Pro was announced. Apparently the ease of specs upgrade from x86 was the change that made this a taste of things to come.Hmm... interesting wording on necessary evolution.
Probability is looking real good that it will be there. It can be debated as to when it will arrive (at launch or after), but i'm fairly confident that it will arrive.Necessary evolution of a generation also suggests to me that BC is going to be considered necessary too. Sony aren't going to want a clean reset for all their fanbase with extensive libraries, and PS4 Pro shows PS4 owners are happy to have their PS4 games improved (just not willing to pay for it medgen, but happy for it next-gen). Given no disruptive tech on the horizon warranting a completely architecture break, at this point I think BC is a shoe-in for PS5.
Sony recently launched "My PS4 Life" allowing players to share some stats of their gaming experience.
Besides other numbers, they also disclose the exact number of players who received some trophy in some game. Combined with the % of people who obtained the trophy (this data is available for every game on the PlayStation website), we can estimate the total number of players in this game.
Note: the number of players who have earned the trophy is not updated online, Sony probably took it somewhere between 20 November and 4 December. So it won't say much about recently released games.
