I love halo very much , it was one of the best games i have ever played, but every single vids from halo looks unimpresive to me. Same with those ones tottaly unimpresive to me if i havent played any halo before i wouldn't be even interested in this game. Strange cause its greatest X360 game to come still all vids are so unimpresive. Only thing that gets me hyped about this game is halo dvd in my xbox.

I don't know, maybe it was about previous Halo series that don't use HDR, or about indoor/outdoor lightings.

Well for halo 2, they used a combination of shadow buffers and simple shadows (mostly the latter).

With respect to HDR, Bungie does it in Halo 3 by rendering the scene multiple times (2 or 3, not sure what they decided upon) with different exposure levels. It's like traditional HDR photography.

BTW I've seen somewhere that Halo uses different renderers per stage but can't remember who said it, is there any point in it?

That sounds smart to me. Especially for a game that aims to have variety in it's environments. If a renderer is somewhat modular, and bright level with heavy use of tone mapping tends to bleed the high-contrast edges so perhaps more selective AA could be used and the bandwith could be shifted over to intensive HDR. Meanwhile indoor stuff could be setup to use more sophisticated AA and a more conservative colorspace. Just an example. I'm sure they have many more and better implementation than I can think of off the top of my head.

In other news...

I'm not a big Halo fan but this is the greatest love-in thread i've seen in quite some time. Keep it up.

that save film feature (see Blim's vids) really bring the 3D nature to light

puts the screen shots to shame. Lighting is godly and detail is great considering the scale (and the real sky).

Upgradeton. Seriously, that little bit where they come out of the gorge and the cruiser flies over head craps over anything in the E3 2006 teaser.

it looks like with a gravity hammer, you could take on a vehicle by yourself. that's probably one of the main reasons you can see the weapon the player has on their back.

Hold the frickin' phone!!

A PINK 360 controller????

LOL, I thought I'd remind you since nobody has yet. The pink controller was announced at E3. There will also be a blue one to come with it. The one I'm linking below is the blue one coming to the US, Australia, New Zealand, but in Europe, Asia and Japan the blue will be a different pastel version(can't find an official link for this one).

BTW, the controller the guy is using to demo is one the new Halo 3 limited edition controllers. Can't tell which one he has, but there's another one on the TV stand on the far right.

Counting the white, black, Simpson-themed, and those 5 above, that makes about 8 different controllers out there for the collector guy. ;)

Sounds like they got the original voice actors for Keyes and Hood. :) Way back the actress said she wasn't called in to do the voice, but maybe it just wasn't time yet?

edit: or maybe not... that sounded like Cortana when Keyes was speaking. :???:

wow, this game's visuals have really turned around!

I was never in the camp that thought the graphics were bad, but the tweeks that they seem to have done have really made it look much better.

Seems like there's a ton of new vehicles, weapons and features too - they've really surpassed the halo - halo 2 jump in that respect in my opinion.

Different VA, but I'm not very satisfied with the new one either. I'll withhold full judgement until I can listen to a better encoded video.
