That pic looks great.
Adding AA to photomode is no different than many other games that have photomode.

I've explained why I think the mip-filter could be moving (due to being downsampled), but it definitely does have better filtering in screenshot mode.Bungie themselves have said it adds nothing more than AA. What more do you want?
I haven't commented on those shots at all. Others have explained however why they don't give an accurate representation.Ugh. Why not? We've posted several shots off peoples TV but you're not happy with those either.
I'm not the one who seems emotionally invested in this issue, you're acting as if I'm insulting your family name. Relax.I can't believe you're making such a huge issue about added AA.

.... Again, my setup may differ from most of you as I play on a 20" LCD - my display and the nature of Halo's levels make these drawbacks stand out for me perhaps more than you.
Actually if the scaler is good (and it is on the 360, and this monitor), it can help things slightly in this area. If it was purely my setup, then I would have this same gripe with every 360 game, but I don't.You do realize more aliasing is noticable as your monitor is higher than the native resolution of the game?
Uh, this _is_ a high res display - higher than yours actually. It's what I play all my 360 and PC games on, so it's not like Halo3 is getting an uneven playing field. It's a brand new Samsung 20" LCD, which actually has fantastic colour reproduction and is crystal clear, best monitor I've ever owned. Far sharper display than your average LCD TV, and certainly plasma.
I've certainly seen consoles on large TV's in stores (and yes, they were set at 720p). On a plasma the aliasing could be hidden perhaps, but I'd be very surprised on a 30+" TV, as aliasing in next-gen titles without AA is very apparent to me.
My PC roots probably has something to do with this as well, AA and aniso are old hat there and you're just not used to the ground turning to mush 2 feet in front of you. Other games can get away with it, it's the nature of Halo3's art direction though that makes it really pop out at me.
Which would be fine if there was a clear distinction between "photomode" and "screenshot"
Does it matter? I do, and it certainly didn't long before I was labelled a fanatical zealot because I don't think it's the second coming.do you own the game?
This is the best I can find and it actually looks good.

But the problem is I have to look for good screenshots in order to get one. Not like other games where good screenshots are all over the place and the bad ones are hard to find.
I don't think it looks poor compared to most games, I just think it's graphical defects stand out more compared to other AAA 360 tiles, and especially with the preceeding and subsequent hype.
The screenshot capture quality and compression techniques applied across all games not just Halo3 and the quality is consistent across all major gamesites. Blaming capture card or compression are somehow not a really sound judgment. Remember those mainstream gamesites gave Halo3 at least 9.5 in their review.
