Silent Hill 4...?

It would make sense to release both MGS 3 and SH 4 on PlayStation 2: PlayStation 3, IMHO, will not be out before late 2005 giving MGS 4 and SH 5 time to come out approximately in late 2006 ( MGS 4 might be delayed to early 2007 ) which would mean 2 years approximately from those two games' release on PlayStation 2.

But don't forget the engine/franchise-milking factor. Look to the PSOne Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, or Resident Evil games as an example.. in all cases the third installment sold drastically less than the first, as well as failing to make a large splash in next gen format (REmake/RE 0, TR:AoD, lesser extent FF X [though it still sold frighteningly well, just not as much as FF VII]).

Wow, I thought GT2 and FF9 were released ~1 year before the PS2 release, but I guess I was wrong.

In any case, as Zurich said, launch games tend to sell extremely well for the simple reason of being the only games available for the system and/or being bundled. Munch on Xbox did pretty good, and I doubt the game would do any better if it was released today.

I'm certainly hoping this isn't a "rush job," but I imagine a lot of storyboarding and design has already been done on SH4, considering the production time of SH3 would have been much extended getting the new engine up and running. Some are expecting perhaps a "wrap up" to tie the series together in general, and perhaps move out to other places instead of continuing the series ad-infinitum in the same area?

Konami staff will apparently be involved in the film's production. Konami staff will oversee script development, assist with the design of the film's human and monstrous cast, and collaborate on soundtrack composition.

looks like it's doomed from the outset if they are overseeing the script.

 if there's anything they should NOT oversee, that would have to be the script...... oversee everything else, but please, not the script.....
