I'm a polygonizer on the car staff.
When the PS2 was announced in March 1999, Namco exhibited three titles: Tekken demo, Kazematsuri demo, and Nagase Reiko demo.
I'm sure your memories are starting to fade, but do you remember?
So, I want you to think back carefully to one of those demos, the Nagase Reiko demo. Do you remember the car behind the background where Nagase Reiko was walking? It was small, so maybe no one noticed it.
...er, I made a model of that car.
It's actually a high-fidelity model of one of the cars that appears in R4, which we redesigned.
The hood and doors open properly, and we made the engine and everything.
At first, this car was supposed to be driving around the screen at the presentation, but ... it was scrapped. The model was too heavy.
Well, even though it ended up like that, I'm satisfied that it was able to see the light of day, but I'm sure most people were captivated by Reiko Nagase's movements and expressions...
I was a little sad, but then I got a voice of salvation from a certain section chief.
"Kin G (← nickname at work), why don't you try Ridge's next work?"
"Yes, I'll do it! Yes, I'd be happy!"
Needless to say, I had a hectic time after that. (A little exaggerated)
Looking back at it now, after some time has passed, there are many things I should have done differently, but for now I'll say that I did a good job.
If I get the chance to do the next work, I'd like to make something even better.
I'll do my best then.
