Red Dead Redemption 2

PBS was one of the biggest leaps in graphics and the game just shows you that it's missing. Also, it has many other problems and the shadow box was a disaster etc. The city felt very empty and it didn't seem alive. I found GTA IV much more impressive and ambitious in its time.

RDR 2 is visually ingenious. A very big leap over GTA V. However, a GTA VI with a dense city could become more difficult on the current consoles.

 

So good at night, particularly when the fog rolls in from the swamp but the thread has moved on from discussing RDR2 on consoles to what spec PC could run GTA V at what resolution and framerate.

Is it hosted on a APK site that will allow you to install it anyway?

I've had a few apps on that way and generally been fine.

Looks like you install the app and have to extract the zip on the device to the set folder for the extra downloaded files. Only works with newer devices that are arm64.

Sucks that for such a game they have not targeted more devices

 

Ahhh... googling for a core mechanic guide, why didn't I think of that? So confused, they refer to them as cores which somehow indicates to me that there's essentially a power bar + a "core" that impacts the filling/degrading of the bar? I keep trying to get my heart shaped symbol filled up red or something to show my "core" is full or get my stamina lightening bolt to "full core" as blue or something. So they don't mean the core of health, stamina, dead eye, they mean those three are your "core" abilities? As opposed to all the other RPG elements buried within other menus?

I think I'm just understanding that right now....

 

The inner icon (heart, bolt) for health and stamina dictated how quickly/slowly the health and stamina outer-ring will replenish - deadeye does not replenish, you need tonics, food/drink or sleep to restore that. Once the outer ring part of health, stamina or deadeye is depleted, the icon itself will start to erode. That's basically it.

You need to carefully read the effects of food, drink and tonics and see if they effect the core (heart, bolt, eye icon) or the outer-ring. Some things positively impact one stat but negatively impact another.

The Android and iOS app has much better instructions for game mechanics and you can also buy a digital interactive version of the Official Strategy Guide for £10 (UK). This has far more detailed explanations of some of the systems like there is an entire page on the decision/factor tree that dictates the outcome of a crime and it's quite complex and makes sense but nowhere is it explained fully in game. Very frustrating.

 

Thanks. If your outer ring is full, does that necessarily mean your core is full?

 

Nope. I've had a full health ring with virtually no health core.

 

Logically you'd think so but no because you can deplete both ring then core with overuse then boost just the outer ring with food or drink. Some items will also 'fortify' (turn yellow) a ring or core - depending on the fortification effect this could mean it either depletes slower or doesn't delete at all for a period.

Nah mate, far from it. The Order looked like CG at launch and still does today, RDR2 just doesn't have the asset quality, character models, post processing quality nor the most carefully crafted interior sections that separates TO1886 from the rest.

They sure allow the game to have many omnidirectional shadow casting lights. That's 6 shadow maps per light. I'd guess they consists of a significant part of the budget.

i don't see it much as i play on a 1080p TV without supersampling activated.
I should put the res back to 1080p for the screens maybe.
It's certainly due to their reconstruction method.

 

Whatever it costs, it's worth it. It grounds every single object in the world and sells every scene. As far as I know, no other game has put that much effort in getting so many shadow casting light sources, that's the part where it surprised me the most. Everything else ranges from average to great but the one thing that always surprises me when playing the game is how good the lighting is. I wonder how much of it is baked and how hacky it is but all of that doesn't really matter as the end result speaks for itself.
