Wow, that was fast!

Online settings are getting pretty good though now.

But looking at this, you're getting the impression that they rushed out Spec 2.0 to coincide with Forza 4, if there are so many issues and they could be fixed so quickly, some of them were probably known when 2.0 was released, or else they should have been caught before 2.0 was released.

But at least they keep supporting the game, adding features, and fixing stuff.

And yeah, Playstation Plus makes this pretty much painless. I think once we PSPlussers have betatested this long enough and they've found a way to make sure not all PS3s do this at the same time, they may consider pushing this out globally.

Still cant share the DLC with other profiles do we? :(
Cant buy the DLC since I have progressed the game on a profile and account that doesnt match the region or the game and I dont wont do start from the beginning on a profile/PSN account that matches it.

Nice, though somewhat weird as he's using a Standard car, not a Premium, but I guess it does show that some of the standard cars are pretty neat. Hope he'll do it sometime with a Premium car though.

EDIT: of course I could have known there are more of these around, like this one with five screens:

We used to do this at LAN parties sometimes, back when we were still playing GT3 with iLink cables. Those iLink cables were probably the best and easiest setup back then, but now online isn't bad either. ;)

You'll have to wait for the December patch.

They probably intended to release Spec 2.0 and these fixes earlier. Kaz mentioned that progress was unexpectedly slow and hard during the move out of Tokyo.

This is probably not the topic to discuss it in, but is this now down to a 'bug' and thus there will be a patch, or is it down to a policy change with Sony/PSN and that we will see more of such an issue in the future? And is there a link confirming that this will be patched?

I'm also a bit confused. Is this spec 2.0 update/upgrade the one that is also only playable on the account it was purchased or does it only apply to DLC like cars?

I can somewhat understand if they want to keep DLC cars to one single profile, but not quite with the game-specific DLC.

From Kaz's tweet, it sounds like, after the patch, the game will install the cars to the dealership. So other users on the same PS3 can get the cars too.

Looking at his past tweets, it seems that they didn't give much thought to the process at all. The new tracks can be used by other online users in the same online session as you, even if they didn't buy the DLC. However, they have to tie the track to the PSN user id. Unfortunately, that system will also prevent other PSN users on the same PS3 to use it.

Spec 2.0 is a game patch, and should work for all folks. The DLC is the one that is tied to the PSN id.

A Closer Look at the Red Bull X2011: What’s New?
http://www.gtplanet.net/a-closer-look-at-the-red-bull-x2011-whats-new/

One of the obvious stars of Gran Turismo 5‘s first DLC car pack is the new-and-improved Red Bull X2011, but until now, it wasn’t clear exactly what changes have been made to the car’s design.

To clarify, Polyphony Digital has outlined all of Adrian Newey’s updates, which mostly consist of modified bodywork that further improve upon his original creation. Here’s a few screenshots of what’s new – head over to the full x2011 page for all the details.

It's a bit faster than the X1 when it has the chance to get up to top speed (Daytona, for example). Otherwise it seems largely the same.

I haven't tried out all of the new cars yet. The Prius is a joke, which is pretty much what I expected. A hybrid in a race car is just pointless.. you're always going balls-out, so there's no chance for the efficiency to come into play in the slightest. The Honda was surprisingly boring around the track, although it handled well. The Challenger was a hell of lot faster than I was expecting.

Loving the Spa track. It's exactly what you would expect out of a premiere Formula 1 track.

Recently something really weird happened to my 24h B-Spec race. 4 hours before the end of the race, I check my progress and everything is great. I come back 30 minutes before the end of the race, my controller do nothinng and my X2010 pilot, is a REAL pilot because he pilots in the skies and in a floating land

The annoying part is that the time ended and it wouldnt return back to the original menu. My driver was stuck at 80MPH in doing endless loops.
24hours wasted:p

Ok. It looks like the file management in GT5 is fucked up. I raced my B-Spec driver in the same event and at around 17 and something hours when I tried to change cameras the cursor got stuck and the track begun to collapse. When the cursor was unstuck the track looked similarly to the images I got above.
I believe the game streams the track from the HDD and for some reason its data were either corrupted or messed.
I saved my race and went back in multiple times. The result was the same. I installed the game nothing. The same.
I logged in to a different profile so I wouldnt loose my progress in the endurance and entered the options to uninstall all installed data from the HDD.
Loaded again the game from my main profile and voila it works.

This is the fifth time I get issues due to the file management.
1) When I posted the bug in the quoted post above
2) When my PS3 would get seriously slow and get stuck for a minute everytime I pressed the home button during the race
3) When I installed the game after I made progress and the cursor would need minutes until it could be moved in the menu screen. I had to uninstall and install the data
4) When one of the b-license tests would get stuck into a black loading screen until I uninstalled and installed the game
5) The second time the track collapses

And one last thing. If you happen to delete manually your GT5 data from the Utility folder (which includes also the updates) in the XMB DO NOT enter the game from your main profile because you will lose ALL your progress. The game will either not load correctly destroying your save if you update, or you may not update and load the game which will also destroy your game data! You will not be able to update the game fully and continue from where you left off.

To correct this instead load the game from a mock profile or a secondary profile and update it from there. AFTER that you should load your game from your main profile!

I discovered this after I destroyed my progress and spent hours experimenting to recover it! Its impossible. I had an older save in a USB which I experimented with as well and found this solution as the only remedy in case you delete manually your GT5 data from the Utility folder in the XMB.

I got 15 cars with the DLC purchase. Some AWESOME cars in the lineup now that I look at them closely but still would like more 2011 and 2012 cars like the Aventador, Aston Martin v12 vantage, etc.

Anyone try the endurance race save feature yet? Do you just pit and then somehow save there or how does it work? I finished the first 2 endurance races so far the 60 lapper and the 2 hour Tsukuba, the next one up being the Laguna Seca 200 mile race.

You go to the pit and the game asks you to either suspend or to proceed with the pit. If you choose to suspend the game saves and asks you to quit the game completely. If you dont quit the save is cancelled.
If you indeed quit the game once you boot it up it will take you back to the endurance race and it will ask you if you want to continue where you left off
This means you cant do anything else in GT5 once you save the game unless you want the endurance progress of the race cancelled.
But thats the point of the endurance right? You do it until you finish it :p

I had lots of fun driving on Spa in Grid and some other games. I'd like to try the GT5 recreation of the track if I could... I would also love to play Bathurst in a videogame, regardless the fact it's not a historical track as Spa, I just like the layout.

Yeah, I'm quite dissapointed on how this is implemented. But better than nothing.

Also can you save in other races beside endurance ? Can you save between races in A-spec championship ? I wanted to do the Formula GT championship, but that thing is 20 laps per race, don't have time for a single run of all the races to gold the championship without saving.

I have no idea. Havent checked it outside the endurance races

Yes, you can save in-between the races in the F1 championship. You can't do anything else though until you've finished the championship, but it certainly beats having to do it all in one sitting. ;)
