Official GT5 discussion thread

Heh heh, so the paints are single use only ? Once you use a color, you can't use it on another car ? If true, how did this policy gets released to the wild ? Are paints really that precious in Sony land ?

Please someone interview the manager who made this decision. Would love to hear his reasoning.

They wanted to make this a community aspect probably :p

Yep, its horrible idea.

I think sometimes, maybe for online races only, you could change the time of day at which the race starts, but that was it. It would automatically run through a full day based on your settings. I don't know the exact scope of the new features in 2.0.

For a time of day You just set how long it takes to change [4 minutes to 24h].

Got to say I find this update a disappointment. I was expect at least 100 more cars being converted to premium standard.

What have the modellers been doing?

Spa existed before GT5 was even released.

How did they do the current premium models ? Did they get the design docs from the manufacturers ? Or did they do everything from scratch and outside sources ? If it's the former, the negotiation may be the bottleneck.

The studio probably created many tracks internally. But they will need to optimize them for the game engine. According to the Gaffers, Spec 2.0 cleaned up the visuals and improved the physics further. I reckon adding time of day and different weathers to the track may also complicate track creation/maintenance.

Would be interesting to have another interview with PD. I am sure a lot of people have the same questions. Or you can fire a twitter to Kazunori Yamauichi's account and ask him point blank ! ^_^

A lot of Yuropeans playing GT5 on my friends list now. Wonder what PD and Sony want to put in last minute for US. If it's rushed, it can't be good (or that good). :devilish:

I was told the track can be played/shared by other players if only one player has the map. However, the map is associated with one user ID (instead of the entire PS3).

Beware: Gran Turismo 5′s DLC Locked to Single PSN Account
http://www.gtplanet.net/beware-gran-turismo-5s-dlc-locked-to-single-psn-account/

Since Sony Computer Entertainment America’s surprise announcement regarding the delay of GT5‘s DLC in North America late last night, it’s been a rocky road for fans eager to enjoy the new content.

Though the DLC packs were released as scheduled in Europe, Asia, and Australia, users in our forums have quickly made an unpleasant discovery: the content can only be accessed in the game when signed into the PSN account you used to make the purchase. The official UK site has been updated to acknowledge the issue:

This is a notice regarding the Gran Turismo 5 DLC, for those who have multiple accounts on the PlayStation®Network.

The DLC released on October 18th is tied to the Account ID used to purchase the DLC. It is not possible to use the DLC with accounts other than the one that was used to make the actual purchase. Therefore please make sure to purchase the DLC with the account that is used to play Gran Turismo 5.

Kazunori Yamauchi has also responded to complaints via Twitter, offering the following explanation:

Resolving the problem with using the DLC on multiple accounts, is not simple. t would be best if we could attribute the entitlement to use the DLC items to multiple accounts in the same PS3, but there is nothing like that in the PSN setup, and we can only assign the entitlements per User ID. There just isn’t a good solution for this I can think of. The entitlement to these non-onetime DLC’s can’t be attributed to the PS3 console.

...

Can Sony create 2 sets of keys ? One set for the user and one for the PS3 hardware ?

What 'bout your UltraViolet scheme ? It is designed/created exactly for this kind of situation.

The US special bonus better be good ! :devilish:

They wont be converting standards to premiums, they want to focus on cars that arent already in game.

Have You excepted them to put 100 new cars in game in free update? They will probably model 300-350 new cars for GT 6 and in DLC for GT 5 we'll probably get around 70-90.
Modelling premiums is really time-consuming and they're understaffed, they dont outsource [thanks god for that], had earthquakes, and moved studio to other city.

BTW i dont get why people want cars DLC in a game with 1050 cars? :>
Seriously.

Ps. And where have You got info that Spa was finished before game launched?

Spa does have excellent looking trees throughout the course. Probably the best course so far for minimal use,(can't spot them) of 2D trees. Lighting on this course is just awesome. If this is what we can expect on future tracks then rock on! Placebo or not, the depth of field effect when I looked on Spa seemed to be improved from what I remembered in other tracks previous to 2.0.

Yes ! I don't have enough $$$ to buy cool cars in GT5...

Do you have any awesome Spa video like this one (different track) ?

The new Kart track seems fun:

What if you redownload the paint pack?

I need more money. That Jay Leno tank car shall be mine :D

Always check if you can't win it somewhere in A or B spec, that's almost always cheaper. ;)

Found the kart track on youtube (have it but haven't tried yet), does look pretty neat:

Wouldn't have minded it if it was a tad longer still though, and/or with narrower sections. :p But these different specced karts are cool.

Wow, if this is the policy on gt5 dlc, i guess i can just go ahead and get fm4. :/

(Edit: tbh, i was already pissed about the paints pack. We checked it out last night -- it may only be $2 but that is some lame shit. The knowledge that my wife wouldnt even be able to use my paint is just salt in the wound. I'll probablu still get it... in 2013.)

I'm not great about the whole suit, helmet etc either, although for kartng there's some advantage to that. I think they just thought that an RPG style featureset would be appreciated, and it's also set up like that so that you can gift/trade everything. But I don't think that works really well here.

I couldn't care less about the paint though - I maybe used paint 3-4 times, and have more than 380 paint items or so, more than I'll ever need, and no helmets or costumes so far. So if you need something :p

I also didn't like the way you have to click each ticket to receive the car. Lengthy process! I do actually like the cars quite a bit, but would still have preferred to just have some 2011/2012 production models.

They way they do DLC is probably not policy bound - they simply update the whole game for it! Upside is that everyone has all the cars, so if you play online you can use your DLC cars (can also be a downside) and/or people see the actual car and not a placeholder. Downside is that everyone gets updates that are larger than they strictly need to be if you don't get that DLC.

When I say converting, I mean removing the standard version and putting a premium detail version in it's place.

I only use premium versions so as far as I'm concerned the game only has a hundred or so cars. Standard models are worthless to me, so yeah I did expect them to include some for free, and loads more in the paid for DLC.

So sue me ;)
