I haven't play this game in ages. I didn't end up picking up the TS500 Wheel like I had plan because GT5 frame rate is really bad and gave me motion sickness. So I hope they fixed the frame rate, hell I take crappier graphic for locked 60 fps frame rate in this upcoming update.
I hope they'll add support for the new Fanatec CSW wheel, I am getting that one instead now, since it seems to be better build compare to TS500.
Fulfilling his pledge to make important Twitter posts in English, Kazunori Yamauchi has just announced some interesting plans if Sebastian Vettel wins the 2011 F1 World Championship:
Kazunori said:If Sebastian Vettel becomes the winner of the F1 World Championship title in the Oct. 9 Formula 1 Suzuka GP, To commemorate Vettel’s 2 year consecutive world championship title, We’ll give away the “Red Bull X2010 S.Vettel” color, TO EVERYONE WHO LOGS ONTO GT5 WITHIN 1WK FROM VETTEL’S VICTORY…
Its important that they are working on some significant DLC now that F4 is closing by.
Its been a year and we havent seen any real DLC for GT5. We were hoping for the appearance of other tracks (old and new) after some leak of photos from their studios but nothing. And there are lots of important cars missing (or at least their premium versions) that F4 will have.
Has PD considered competition and what fans want? DLC is one of the most important aspects and a certainty for the consumer, that so far PD has neglected
So you are saying that some wont buy GT5 because FM4 is coming? But a spec 2 plus DLC might change that? The game is as you say almost a year old i don´t see where the competition is except the internet wars
The game was and is stuffed with content and a lot to do at launch. And since the release there has been a steady release of new challenges and minor tweaks and additions to the game. I have not bought a game in recent times that have given so much value for money
Someone who is still deciding between the two yes there is a high chance he wont buy GT5. But regardless of whether someone will buy it or not, we d like to see some refreshing additions like new tracks and premium cars in it.
Also there is a "competition" between the two franchises themselves, and both of them would want to prove they are the best. Each is trying to do that by building on the weaknesses of the other. And they will highlight that.
If someone is undecided on what game to get one year after GT5 they don´t really count in masses. Any racing fan with a little respect for themselves would have bought GT5 by now.
If you are talking about new customers to 360 vs PS3 i think it takes more than FM4 vs GT5 to decide.
Finally the internal competition, there is one for sure. American developers shouting they make the best and humble Japanese developers that does not shout
Respect has nothing to do with it. There are people that like to wait. Even those that bought GT5 already may buy FZ4 later and might like it more and may change the way they see the franchises in the future
There is a slow shift of "popularity" share and preference. As time passes depending on how well each builds on the strengths and weaknesses of the other the less it will take for the car fanatic to decide. At some point he may even decide to give up on one of the two as the franchises evolve
PD cant always retain the "throne" infinitely by ignoring competition's efforts and the fact that competition is building on core areas that they didnt
I find it extremely unlikely that FM4 will be a major factor in the sales of GT5 since it´s been selling for almost a year. The number of people that haven´t bought GT5 yet must be small compared to the current sales of the title. To suggest that FM4 on a completely other platform should play into sales at this point is a bit of a reach.
I totally agree with the Competition there is between the 2 franchises, but that war is fought on more levels than just the games themselves.
Oh its not just about the sales of GT5 vs F4. Its all about the foundation the set for the future as well and the future sales for the next games
Thats why they dont stop on the simple release of the game disk itself only. Hence you see the updates, the DLC, the game events, they build on the weaknesses of the other, they try to associate game features with real events etc. If one stays behind, the other has stronger foundation. Someone who owns GT5 today may wait to see what competition will offer in the future when GT6 and F5 will be close by if he sees that competition today has showed more attention to detail and more refinement.
Not wanting to make a flame war here, but it will be most interesting to see how for example ign reviews updated gt5 against forza4. GT5 vs. forza3 was quite clear case based on numbers(which ofcourse means pretty much nothing on individual level. We all have our own preferences).
The Press was disappointed because the game had been delayed so long, but there was still some hope that it was due to perfectionism. When the game finally came out it was full of imperfections, missing features and far from perfect.
My wife finally saw my GT steering wheel yesterday (Well, she saw the box ;-)). Wait till she sees my HMD-TZ1, if I end up buying one.
