Engine rev limiters can't do anything about mechanical overrev.

Exactly. In most cars, you'll see your engine go boom if done too many times. Heel and toe is to avoid blocking/slowing the rear tyres abruptly while braking and shifting down at the same time. If you engage the clutch too quickly without H&T on a downshift while braking and in a corner, you'll be sure to lose the back-end very quickly.

At level 16 now. Got the mclaren f1 stealth working well for my driving style. I just put the front brake bias to 8, traction control at 4, abs 1 and all other assists off. It's a lot of fun to drive.

Very annoyed with being taken out by the AI in championships. You can't restart the races so you're screwed.

The best car I've driven in stock form is the F430 during the GT life Monza special event.

I get sad everytime I goto the Ferrari dealership and see no F50, F50GT and FXX. :(

Gratz on the Mclaren... the 458 Italia should fullfill your needs... when you get it :)

I have the italia. It's ok but acts weird on the brakes. Seems to lock up quickly. If I can dial that out, I'd use it more.

My timing for GT5 Academy was over 2 minutes (or was it 3 minutes, I can't remember now. Someone here made fun of me).

[Point at sky @ roughly 30 degrees]

"I shall half it with my new wheel."

I'm also at level 16. Just bought the Italia for the Ferrari race in Pro and I really like it with Sport Soft tires with no TCS and ABS at 1. I think this is the car I'm gonna use to tackle the Championship for Pro.

Is the Nürburgring track demo the only GT5 (not Prologue) demo?

On a side note: I'm paranoid! Today, I saw the shadow of a car and I thought "Ugh, teh jaggiez"...
It wasn't a video-game, it was real life :???:

No. I played the Rome track in a GameStop demo station.

I'm boating in SambaBus Challenge. Took me a little while to adjust to this video:

Turns out the are 3 upgrade I could do for the McLaren Stealth Model

1. Chassis upgrade
2. Level 3 Engine Upgrade
3. Soft racing tires

It's not as "fun" to drive as before but the laptimes are certainly a lot faster.

Bad news is I can't undo the changes which is a weird design decision.

I can trump that. I was walking through a car park and was looking at the cars for their texture quality and any jaggies around the lgihts and wheel arches - and I'm not even playing GT5!

That has happened to me a few times. It scares me . I'm not even that into video-games, but heh, I suppose that is due to our superior, analytical mind.

Neither do I (that's why I asked about the demo). :???:

Nice job! I love that one. I also noticed that the Lotus (together with some careful throttle control) handles much, much better with TCS off. May be something to consider when you try the intermediate Top Gear challenge (pretty hard). The final one is with an army vehicle from 1944 and is great fun - two pairs start from different positions so that you get crossing traffic. :LOL:Pretty easy though I found.

I made it to 50% a few days ago and completed Professional, giving me the ending credits (not their best work, imho - I liked the ones from GT5 Prologue and GT4 way better). I also noticed I'm not the only one on my friend list to have done so. ;) I also went for Golds on the AMG advanced challenge to get the SLS AMG which I then used for the Grindelwald B in Extreme, which was a very exciting race for me against the Audi R8. I beat him fairly easily on the straight, but in the corners he kept up very well, I was behind him for a good while, then I overtook him on a fast section, and then he clung onto me at 1 sec distance for a good while too. Of course that prompted me to get that new R8 from the dealer immediately afterwards. ;)

I use this list to determine the order in which I tackle the events. Every Premium car I can win I won't buy, obviously, as well as use some of these winnable S cars for some races that have requirements that would otherwise require expensive Premium cars or just not have a suitable Premium in the first place.

Got the game on Friday and well... have been playing it since. :)
I started with the Honda Civic which was good enough to get the ball rolling and then continued buying a Lotus Elise that has gotten me through the professional gran turismo championship pretty easy. As per advice by Arwin, I started playing the special events and have progressed nicely through the game.

Golded the top gear events pretty easily so far: The bus looked quite difficult at first, but thanks to the slipstreaming not that difficult. The Lotus Elise challenge on the top gear track was even easier..

The graphics are very solid. You can tell some tracks aren't as graphically complex as some of the city ones but it's all very nice. I'm sure I've raced against a fair share of standard car models but TBH, it's not that evident until you probably drive in one and give it more notice.

I do have one question I couldn't figure out yet:
What can I do with the cars I win that are in "car delivery"? Are they just there to be used or can I sell them as well?

Also, my only gripe so far is that the software does seem a bit buggy. When I got the game, it first wanted an online update. Did that, done that - next dialog window recommends the full install (stating 20 minutes). I let it run for 2 hours until the automatic power-saving mode turned off my PS3. Tried it again and noticed that it got stuck at 1 seconds remaining. So I delete the game-save (that was around 8 GB in size), made sure I had more than enough room on my harddrive and started GT5 again, this time, without installing the online-update. Went into the game options and installed the 8 GB worth of data from there. All good. Restart the game, do the online update... and then the game prompts me again to install the 8 GB recommended installation. WTF?

Clicked "Yes", waited roughly an hour - game hangs - AGAIN!!

At the end, I just installed it (again) from the game-settings screen where it seems to work fine.

Also another annoyance: Is there an easier way to turn off all music for while racing other than having to select each and every music file and turn it off over 2 sub-menus?
