New EA IP: Dante's Inferno

By the way, demo is up on PSN.

Haha, and you defeat Death right away.

And boobies in the 2nd CG! (Actually, quite a bit of them.)

It's actually pretty good, but it's really goofy. 'Punish' or 'absolve', a glowing cross as your projectile weapon.

Demo was ok, but Bayonetta easily beats this game I think both on game play and visuals.
But not on framerate :)
Gameplay in Dante's Inferno is a derivative of the one on GOW so its pretty apparent that it'll have less complex mechanics when compared to Bayonetta which is a derivative of DMC.

Did not care for the demo. I thought the combat was pretty mindless. QTEs were more annoying than satisfying. And the visuals inconsistent.

The only things that surprised me about this demo were the gratuitous use of nudity and how many things were directly copied out of God of War.

I thought the demo was hideous on numerous levels. I also didn`t like Bayonetta so maybe i`m the problem! hehe.

It's a competent GoW clone with solid framerate with plenty of goofiness (phantom breasts!). Not sure I'd buy it, at least not at full price, but it was fun.

Maybe they should include a copy of The Divine Comedy so people actually get a clue that the game really has not much to do with the book.

Taking text from Alkohallick's earlier post (emphasis mine):

The Dante's Inferno Divine Edition is the version all PlayStation 3 owners will be receiving once the game is released on February 9th, so there's no need to worry about changing over your preorders or making sure you don't get a gimped version accidentally. Whether they want it or not, they're getting it. What are they getting? On top of the game itself, the Divine Edition comes with developer commentaries, a Wayne Barlow digital art book, the game's soundtrack, and a digital copy of the complete Longfellow translation of Dante Alighieri's Inferno.

Combat's ok, not too special. The leveling up system seemed neat. Maybe they should have picked a later level to show it off, seeing as how they've been spoiling the game with all those videos anyway. I liked the comic/2D story, which was in the style of those Dead Space comic vids.

I can certainly see why they're able to stick to 60fps very well :p, though the cut-scenes seem to be half that.

QTE's annoy me to no end. Sometimes I just want to see what cool thing is happening on screen. Or maybe just all the time.

I found the QTEs hard to see, actually... which meant I had to keep focusing on the top of the screen to see what to press. It just doesn't feel like there's a huge difference between a gold button with a red circle on it and a gold button with a pink square. GoW's (and everyone else's, really) more jarring 'color on black' buttons seem to work better. The effect might be better on 360s, since the buttons are solid color.

This is my biggest issue with QTE's. They're just interactive cut scenes anyway. I rather concentrate on the cutscene instead of staring at a specific part of the screen and ready to press the right button.

QTE's need to just go away.

The way they present the QTE was confusing at first for me.
I actually thought that the game is asking me to pull the analogue stick down & forth..but it instead was asking me to press circle again & again. The tap motion felt like pull motion of analogue :)

Everything it does, it does like God of War. Only it's completely average at it. So there is no point in getting this over GoW 3.

Well, except nothing stops someone from getting both...

And, not everyone has a PS3. :p

SB

Sure, but I doubt a lot of people are going get both since it's released right between the GoW collection and GoW 3.

And if you absolutely must have a wannabe, but don't own a PS3, there is always that DevilgirlMayCry game. ;)

This is the first level, right? The moveset will obviously increase probably making it more enjoyable, just like GoW. Maybe they should have made the demo like Ninja Gaiden Sigma where they gave you all the weapons off the bat.

If the game gets good scores, I'll probably still pick it up, but probably after GoW III.

just played the demo... buttery smooth 60fps and I like the visual aesthetic of the game although some will probably find it to be cheesy. How dos this compare to God of War III demo if anyone has played it? Is it 60fps too?

I'll prolly pick this up if the reviews are good.

The DevilgirlMayCry game is absolutely unplayable by someone allergic to the Japanese videogame aesthetics, which is taken to unimaginable extremes there.

I hated DMC, I loved God of War, I don't have a PS3: that's why I think I'll like Dante.

Actually, from the timing and how aggressively EA is going after PS3 owners, it seems like they're offering Dante's Inferno as a game on which they can whet their appetite before the GoW comes out.
