...and if a person decides to criticize a game for something they obviously haven't seen themselves or played the freely available demo first, they should stick to holding back their judgement.
If you've played the demo (and if that's anything to go by), I think you will find that the framerate isn't an issue. I didn't get any slowdowns at all (except for the loading blips mentioned above). SUre there will be some framerate drops just in every other game outthere, but for the most part, it'll be a non-issue I'm sure. It's extremely impressive that they got the game looking this good and with such a constant framerate (during the demo anyway).
I'd personally would prefer toned down graphics and framerate at 60 fps though, but hey... can't have anything. Graphics sell over gameplay I guess (though ironically, it's usually the gameplay that makes you go back to a game over and over again), which is why I'll probably stick to CoD4/5 most of the time. :/
Still, the game is a day 1 purchase for me and I'm highly impressed by what they have achieved. I don't agree with some of the design choices, but admire them for what they delievered. Without doubt, it is already a lot better of a FPS than many games are.
I've played the demo 4 times. I noticed some dropped frames in the first cutscene, but other than that, I found the framerate to be very consistent.
However, I have direct feed HD footage of some of the more chaotic sections of the game and I noticed that the game was dropping 5-10 frames at a time in hectic scenarios.
While the footage I have is review code, I had a tiny inkling of hope that the actual retail code would be 30 fps locked with some rare exceptions.
That this isnt the case slightly dissapoints me. It wont be too much of an issue because of the extensive motion blur, but still, it's an issue nonetheless.
In regards to KZ2s AI;I expected it to be good (Uncharted quality), but I didnt expect it to be this good. I said it before, but based on the time I spent toying with the AI in the demo, I think its safe to say that the full game offers AI that at the very least rivals the best in the genre. If the regular HGH grunts are this fun to fight, I cant wait to see how the combat plays out when the speedier, more agile classes enter the mix. Should be very interesting, especially with this game's mechanics.
Grandmaster complained about this earlier, but I like that the cover system doesnt make you invulnerable.
In the demo at the APC section on the beach, (while I was in cover) I had one HGH flank left, shoot up a bunch of NPCs, then fire at my exposed side as I engaged the HGHs to the right of me. As I turned and fired at him, he returned a few shots, turned heel, raced to the nearest cover, settled in, then started blindfiring. It was a great moment.
