If you're stealing our (European) demo, at least give us Europeans enough time to download it first before you all come along and make it painfully slow for everybody :D

Does anyone know if KZ2 features online co-op in the campaign or a mode similar to Horde in Gears 2?

I'm not sure what you think Resistance is doing differently.
Setting up more balanced games from the larger pool of available players of course.
It also makes the game more varied, fun and the whole ranking and stats system becomes fairer.
Plus, especially convenient if you are playing for a 10 minute break from work or something.
Also, it suffered a fairly major problem (for me personally) - ending lobbies after every game. I just didn't get that.
If you don't get it (which I find more puzzling), you can always create or join custom games (which are still hosted by dedicated servers). Fortunately they are not ranked and they have different stats.

It would be interesting if they did something like adding online play for Killzone: Liberation on PSP, adding co-op in say half a year.

Apparently Europe gets the demo this Thursday! Exciting!

Without going to the subjective domain, KZ2 pays a lot more attention to animation, post processing, dynamic lighting, particle effects and assorted details than other games. It gives the game a cinematic feel.

The sound effects and music in KZ2 contributes a lot to give it that cinematic feel. The graphics alone isn't enough to do it. If you replaced the high quality sound effects and great music with average samples and kept the graphics the same you would lose a lot of that cinematic feel.

They all contributed to it. They have an extremely high visual target to meet in the first place. The animation and particle effects for example are still amazing when they replaced the original audio with an Internet quality "The Flower Duet".

How? Killzone 2 features the option to limit matches to those at your own level.

Why should I play unranked games just because they have a ridiculously system in place. I have never played another MP game that closes lobbies ala Resistance. Especially annoying in co-op.

No doubt the graphics look great like any other great looking game, but what makes KZ2 special eg "cinematic" is largely in part to the great audio. That said the graphical aspect that greatly adds to the cinematic feel is the camera movement more so than the actual animations or particles imo.

I would have really liked it if they had a jungle level or at least one semi sunny level. I think bright and sunny levels really let you judge the quality of a game.

Few reviews talk about KZ2 audio first (A few complained about "bad" voice acting). More raved about the visuals front and center. Most people credit the look to the post processing. But really every little bit stands out. The DOF, film grain, lens flare, motion blur, elaborate animation, bouncing particles, lingering smoke and wind, destructible environment, dynamic lighting (The Helgast googles will light up closeby walls), great art, etc. all contributed to a very unique cinematic experience.

In the Ballet of Death, the camera is static but the entire sequence proved attractive to many. It's an FPS anyway. Too much camera movement will cause motion sickness for some people. Unlike MGS4's third person view which is open to more flexible camera control, KZ2 needs to rely on more than camera work to achieve a dramatic experience.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong. I think the audio in KZ2 will be impressive ! But I just don't think the audio part came through in all these relatively low quality trailers (sound quality speaking). None of them are on par with the game's original sound yet people all over the net loved the trailers. So they must be doing something right about the visuals. ^_^

I got to play the demo yesterday. One of my friends work at the paramus park mall in jersey. For those that know the mall there are two gamestops. Well now there is one , the food court one closed down. I went over there to say by to some people that will most likely move on and i will never see them again. However the sony rep was there and had a demo of kz2.

The game is visualy impressive , its easily the best looking game on consoles. Its not up to crysis quality but its certianly above GOW2 and COD WW. I'm not a fan of the controls. I don't know if its just because I don't like the ps3 controller but moving around felt off to me. The game was really fun to play though and I will most likely pick this game up.

Was the demo build review code or preview code?
If it's the newer build, you would have seen the Higs inside the warehouse standing around and talking before you opened up on them.
In the older builds, you pretty much encounter resistance the second you step inside the warehouse.

First of all match balancing in team based games doesn't necessarily mean you play with those at your own level. Second, not everybody at the same level has the same skills.
One side is better (naturally). If it's a ranked game (possibly with stat tracking), the players on the loosing side will start to leave the game, which will only make things worse for everyone on both sides.

As far as I can see Killzone 2 will have objective heavy MP which isn't going the make the whole issue easier to handle. Ranking is also way more important than the likes of CoD4, Resistance or MGO.

Lobby system is fine if you are playing with friends against friends, otherwise works terrible with ranking.

How is that more convenient...
Quick get in, quick get out. Match starts with you, ends with you. You don't have to join a game in progress, or leave in the middle of a game.
Why should I play unranked games just because they have a ridiculously system in place. I have never played another MP game that closes lobbies ala Resistance.
Why do you want to play ranked games in a lobby with the same people? Seriously?
Let's say you have average shooter skills, yet you will either keep loosing, or keep winning, in any case there is something wrong which shouldn't be in a ranked game.

Why is it ridiculous? I'm curious, please enlighten us to why the way of Resistance is worse than the likes of CoD4 or MGO?

It's much better for match making, much better for rankings, much better for stats.

In fact, I'm quite shocked that there is someone in this world who thinks otherwise (again for ranked games).

Especially annoying in co-op.
Fortunately we are not talking about coop but that's what the party system is for. I suggest you make some friends if you want to continue playing with same people in coop.
