Tha_con just quoted you saying "rare moments" of slowdown. Now, you are stating "a lot of slowdown" for the preview code less than two days later. Which story do you want to stick with? :???:

I try to explain : a person who has an important italian videogames forum (to be honest I hate him but is another story) has the preview code. To beginning he saw a dips on fps only a few situations. After a lot of hours he can notice is more frequent. For this I have reported only now. Another italian review said the same. However it regard only the preview code . I think surely the final build will be better but I'm just little worried. Although the personal tester said is sure a greatfull engine , if not the better for now of this generation, it has flaws on fps. the forum is www.forumeye.it ps3 section topic of killzone 2. I repeat is an italian forum .

And as such, there's no point worrying about it yet. Preview builds often are a bit rough. The developers say 30 FPS locked, and even explain how they manmage increases of comlexity by having spare SPU-time to burn. Which is pretty positive looking fo rthe game. But then devs tend to exaggerate a bit, and a 'constant 30 fps' can be something with dips despite promises. So at this point, we don't know. Still, so many games suffer from framerate dips that no-one's any worse off KZ2 it has! Personally it's a disappointment there are so few 60 FPS games out there, but games are enjoyable none-the-less.

Its dissapointing for all titles, extreme slowdown ruins immersion, stop beng so defensive, you dont even know if this slowdown exists.

He says rare slow down, you say extreme slowdown, then you say we don't even know if it exists.

He stated that it was rare, and dropped to about 20fps. I'm sorry, but that's not extreme slowdown, especially if it only happens for a few seconds at most.

Extreme slowdown is halving the normal frame rate for an extended period of time. All games have some slowdown, this is not disappointment (unless you're a ridiculous PC nut hell bent on owning the worlds most powerful PC).

Pixel Junk Eden has dropped frames for me before. Burnout Paradise has dropped frames on me before. Halo 3. Gears of War 1 and 2. Resistance 1 and 2. Call of Duty 4 on both console systems. Even Super Mario Galaxy and SSBB have dropped frames on me before.

If somehow you think this is exclusive to a small selection of titles, then you are sorely mistaken. It's common place, and hardly in any way shape or form "disappointing", especially when you consider how well the engine performs.

Would be best to wait for the release. e.g., R2 previews/betas performed differently from the release build (although some issues prevailed until patched, or today).

Thank you for the explaination, it's encouraging read is normal for a preview build. This to make me quiet :D

Gah... you are right. Looked at the promotion code card, it's a KZ2 demo. Ah well, I get to see what the fuzz is about earlier

phew, I was about to be mad that I was going to miss out on some Multiplayer shenannigans with noobies who haven't played it yet! The initial beta was awesome when people started getting their emails. The headset convo was hilarious "dude it looks so....." [silence] "....crap I died because I wasn't paying attention".

You also have to consider that it's pretty fishy that an Italian Forum owner with little to no credibility is one of the only people mentioning this kind of slowdown, don't you think?

In few days I will have a brief chance to get my hands on review code of KZ2, and I'll report what is the extent of slowdowns (if any). Its really killing me that I will not have enough time with it to finish the entire game... :(

Sounds gravy :) Stinks that you won't get to finish it, are you going ot have to send it back or something? Traveling maybe?

I had direct feed footage of preview code material and there was slowdown in some parts.
During the Corinth River landing segment, the framerate dips to around 20 frames a second during one particular scripted event.
On Salamun Bridge there was also framedrops. Nothing that made the game unplayable, but the game would drop 5, even 10 frames at a time in hectic scenarios.
(4 or more grenades blowing up in succession)

The extensive motion blurring sort of hides it, but there's no denying that the game dropped frames, at least in the preview code.

... I think there isn't nothing of personal. What mean this behaviour? I talk of preview build because I know only those impressions. When I'll find the final build impressions I'm speaking of those.

Edit: Carry on.

i suggest you watch the walkthrough - they talk about getting a locked framerate for the multiplayer with the same visual fidelity of the SP. It took them a lot of time, but they claimed you could have a solid 30fps framerate even when all 32 players throw grenades in the air at the same time.

I've cleaned up the 'preview framerate' talk as redundant. We all know the score now and await reviews, and for those who care, grandmaster's analysis ;)

I heard the game is 720p and 1080i native ? SP or MP ?
In a video interview, I only heard the lead programmer say "720p, so no shortcuts there." I know a written interview states that it would also be native 1080i, but I'll take the video interview over a written interview any day.
