Leaked numbers, potentially (probably?) inaccurate. Supposedly the 360 had a Katamari/AC6 bundle this week. Next week is Last Remnant. From here and here.

I wonder if Nintendo has stopped stocking DSLs or if interest in it has really plummeted. And before someone states the obvious, yes, I know the DSi is there. But the whole idea was to sell both handhelds at the same time, wasn't it?

Also, Last Remnant is out tomorrow, apparently, so should be on next week's chart.

What nintendo says doesnt have to be what they really want. Why would they want to be botherd with keeping 2 production lines for what is essentially the same product? They probably only say that because they want their stock to sell. Also, I think consumers arnt crazy. I dont know the price difference but its probably not large enough for people to say well I really want a DSL over a DSi with the new and better stuff. So its a bit of both I think.

DSL supports R4 and equivalents. People are still figuring out how to exploit the DSi's SD slot. That's why I suspect Nintendo just wants the DSL to die, '3 product lines' be damned.

Good reason too. Though I wonder how big of a agenda point that is considering 20million people or so in Japan already have a DS that is capable of flashcards. Besides they already got homebrew running on the DSi. They just dont have flashcards yet. Probably because they are trying to figure out how to use the SD card slot first, if they can get that to work its not worth it to invest in the flashcards so they are probably still waiting that out.

Well, Sony's releasing PSPs that make piracy harder, even though there's 10 million of the old model, so it must be enough of an issue. And they're running homebrew, but not backups yet -- though that might also hurt Nintendo's margins if people start running GB/GBC/GBA emulators on the DSi, and the rumors are right about Nintendo planning a 'Virtual Portable' download service.

actually its almost as easy to hack the psp 3000 as the previous models ,you just have to spend $30 on a new battery according to engadget.

The 360 is pretty close to the PS3. It is unfortunate that Sony didnt make a price drop for this Christmas. All the extra sales it got for the year will be canceled by the holiday's 360 price drop.

That would be impressive, as Jan through September numbers stood at
PS3 657,137
360 191,792

PES09 also launched yesterday in an 80Gb bundle with 2xDS3s in Japan.

Well after many weeks of sustained sales for 360, it seems to me the 360 has been a success for MS in Japan....

Why? Despite the fact that it has not sold a significant number of consoles this generation, it has created a very solid base from which their next console can grow. With steady 6000-8000 units a week, they are far better off than they were with the Xbox 1 in the same time period, and now have a valid chance at a successful console in Japan next time around.

I'm not sure MS ever expected to sell a ton of consoles there this gen, but if their goals were to shed alot of the negative stigma, and create a solid foundation going forward, I think they've done that.

I believe WE2009 is down from last year. Otherwise, not shocking or surprising. Well, maybe all the PSP games in the top 10, but that's unlikely to last. GAFer speculation says that the boost the Wii got this week is because this is when sales begin to pick up. Last Remnant didn't drive a huge hardware boost last week and this week it's not around, I still believe that people who bought their 360s for ToV and IU held onto their consoles this time around.

Nice performance for PS3. As for Wii, it's looking likely to take a massive hit on year over year comparisons. Last December it sold some 800k in Japan. This year it might be lucky to do half that.
