Dude, you sound like a mindless fanboi right now. Do you actually have any evidence, even circumstantial, that the "fartcry" issue is more than an app specific bug work-around?

Is it possible any of these games have a true SM 2.0 support which is not dependent on Device ID of any vender and only use the document API calls and nothing device specific.

It may so that NV3x may reduce the performance, but I don't believe there is definite answer to if NV40 does that - especially since it not in the stores yet.

So what exactly makes them "comparable"?

    Duh, talk about selective perception...

The skipped ShaderMark tests are due to missing FP texture support in the current driver/DX version combination.

did i mention fart cry in that post ?

I own a 5800ultra and the image quality with the latest patch is crap.

IF you own a 9700pro and compare it to any fx card you will see the quality diffrence.

If you look at the geforce 6800ultra reviews you will see the same crappy image quality .

Its a fact that there are image quality problems with farcry's new patch and nvidia cards .

It is not fan boy .

The laugh is in them saying there is no change in image quality . Which is a laugh because it already sucks .

Highest mode vs. highest mode would be obvious, if we want to get really technical then lets use ATIs 2xFSAA vs Nvidia's 4X FSAA on a FX. As ATIs 2XAA approaches Nvidias 4XAA.

Is it so hard to fathom that people would be interested in seeing what both high end cards perform like with the highest AA modes. As a consumer people should be informed, and no 30 page tech document on the differences between MSAA vs. SSAA are not going to fly with the average consumer.
So I assume ATI should be forced to run 6XAA vs. Nvidias 4XAA as it is not 'fair' Nvidia uses SS. Then whats the point of having 8XAA enabled in the CP :!:

Ya, Since we're talking about edge removal and not over all Quality, Lets start benching with quincunx and 4x9tap and compare them to the higher respective modes.

I mean its only about edge removal right? The point of this is its impossible to compare uncomparable modes when they clearly have very different effects on the scene.

I'll one up you guys: not only do I refuse to preorder (yet  ), I also refuse to check out any stolen source code.

On topic, the x800 being 40% faster sounds high. But this number alone doesn't tell us much. We don't know about the system specs, settings, or how much was happening on screen. All it tells us is the x800 is faster in HL 2 but we already expected that.

    Some misc HL 2 stuff:
For the first time in some months, I took a look at the Valve Speaks thread at halflife2.net. Among other things: Min sys specs have been upped to 1 ghz and a dx 7 card. The game is fully playable. Whether it's worth it to upgrade from a 9700/9800 to an x800 depends on the speed of the rest of the system... so apparently hl2 isn't completely gpu limited. Steam has 2.5 million users peaking at 175,000+ simultaneous.

Oh, and all of Gabe Newell's outfits are exactly the same.
