    Potentially misleading

They could have meant that the original data-set for a track is so large that it would not fit on dvd9.

Depending on the type of topography method they used I can easily see this being the case.

However if it was truly just a matter of "we can't fit all these tracks and cars on one disc" then why not ship it with two discs?:???:

I think it's more an issue of time/money than anything else.

It true that it is a little misleading but it looks most likely that the lack of storage is the problem here and not so much the production, that said once the game release comes around we may find out depending on how quickly the additional content rolls out on XBL.

EDIT - Like ChefO said about Tap in, /thread by the looks of it.

    So they never said:

How much space does the old downloadable Forza tracks require?

Off the top of my head tracks in Forza1 were ~50mb, and each car was around ~5mb, I have it installed on my XBOX HDD and can take a look when I get home.

It'd be rather inconvenient to wait for people to switch discs while online. ;)

Most people playing online probably have HDD's though...

I can definately picture a scenario where a game comes with a 2nd disc that can either be inserted in the drive, or installed on the HDD.

what can devs fill 7.9GB with??? i would be interested to see percentage of game sizes being allocated ie 50% texture 20% sound 10% physics (this is just an example), pc games were high def for years and they never had problem with dvd size

Well that could be viewed as a positive, dev's are not yet needing to resort to measures like this, only one game (BD) has been too large for a single disc.

The HDD install is certainly an option though, which hopefully gets utilized at somepoint on the inevitable multi-disc games.

That's why the game would come with a 2nd disc that could be inserted or installed...THINK people!!

Oh wait! There were discs like that before. The Halo 2 multiplayer map pack and various special edition discs with extra items (Jade Empire, MechAssault 2). Sorry, my bad.

They could market the second disc as bonus and basically deal with it the same way they did Halo 2 back when not everyone got the new maps because they cost money. :p

So, we have a semi confirmed release date and news that Forza2 is coming along nicely . . . and the one piece of sensationalist anecdotal evidence that some of you people extract from this otherwise good news is the "XBox 360 doesn't have enough disc space for next gen games!?!" Some of you people are pathetic and should just go elsewhere. Your presence makes this Forum a worse place.

God damn, I can't stand fanbois of either persuasion.

Maybe you just missed the other Forza 2 thread where we did talk about the good stuff like 4xAA and 60fps.
