GTA V announced [2011] , [2021-11-11]

So, I played through enough of GTA V last night on the One to get to the point where now I can switch between Franklin and Michael whenever you want, and I must say, the graphics are much better than the graphics on the 360 - which were already pretty impressive for that console.

The first person view is also great! I still find myself "cheating" into third person when driving, but that's something I've never been good at and was always the biggest chore for me in these GTA games. Funny, considering that's really the main focus of the game, but races.. etc.. were always more aggravating than fun. Anyway, when not in a vehicle, the first person view really makes it like an entirely different game. Gun fights, especially, are so much better in first person view!

Between the updated graphics and the addition of first person, I'd say it was definitely worth the $30 I spent to trade in my 360 version to replay the game on the One.

At some point, Rockstar will release the next Red Dead Redemption on these next generation consoles, and I'm guessing that they will launch with first person view and I can't wait! It'll be incredible.

Well I thought it had, the 'application manager' said GTA @ 51gb but when I went to start the game it went to an installation screen...it still had ~6gb to d/l and for some reason it was really, really slow (and even stopping at times). I couldn't even play another game as it seemed if I did that the d/l stopped (tho it was hard to be 100% sure as it was so slow and was int stopping)

System Storage Manager does not show you how much has downloaded, it shows you how much is reserved. If you want to know the download status of a game without launching it, simply hit the "Options" button on any game and go to "Information". "Download Status" will show its current progress beyond the initial "Play Go seed" that shows up in the notification area download queue.

I see some people get confused by this and think they need to start the game for it to finish downloading (not referring to you in this case, but I've seen a lot of people under that impression, including the gaming press). I should add some of this detail to the B3D PS4 User FAQ.

Massive GTA V update now available. Trees and shrubbery are now affected by the wind. Take note UBI, this is how you do an proper update - that isn't buggy.

Ugly sweater party at Michael's house! lol
Updates
  • Players are now able to own a third property, allowing potential ownership of up to 30 cars and 9 bicycles.
  • Deadzone and Acceleration sliders have been added to control Settings.
  • First Person Mode Auto Level Camera on/off setting has been added to Settings.

    • First Person Aim / Look Acceleration – This controls how quickly speed is increased until the player reaches maximum turn speed; the lower the setting, the longer it takes for the player’s turn speed to reach maximum.
    • First Person Auto Level Camera on/off setting – This gives the player complete control over where they’re looking at all times. With the option on, if a player is looking down and moving forward then the camera will pan up so that the player can see in front of them. With the option off, then the player would remain looking at the ground when moving forward.

Whoa. They did that.

Really hope that AI and general persistence in world is one of the big changes for the next GTA.
Not they certainly can allocate a lot more memory for it to finally work properly.

What AI failings are you looking to see improved? Police still routinely turn up in a car, have a shoot out then randomly walk away leaving their cars abandoned which is weird but I've been quite happy the with AI in GTA V.

More persistence linked with destructibility would be good. I don't expect to level massive buildings like skyscrapers but would like to be able to destroy smaller builders and have construction builders slowly rebuild it.

The police sometimes will shoot you at a 1-star wanted level, if you run away or walks towards them (unarmed). The NPCs can use a more dynamic AI system dealing with their surroundings (awareness). Interacting with them should be more natural... sometimes just saying "hello" would trigger them into panic mode. The fire department (firefighters) are still oblivious as hell when it comes to... well, fires!

A few tweaks here-and-there would be welcomed in the AI department.

The stars are not an indication of the severity of the crime and the police will usually shoot if you ignore any instruction (like "freeze" or "stand still") after they've drawn their weapons. This is player intelligence fail, rather than the game ;)

I'll do some testing, I've not really interacted with the drones. I have noticed that ambulances are virtually pointless though. Back in the PS2 era, pedestrians could take a beating and would writhe on the floor in pain long enough for paramedics to reach and revive them. Modern GTA NPCs die crazy quick even after a punch.

I could care less about the general AI in terms of interacting with the player.

More scripted events would nice. Like driving by and seeing two guys with the hood up working on a car, car broke down on the side of the freeway being put on a wrecker and people actually shopping in the AN or clothing stores would be little touches that add immersion to the game.

People are so up in arms about ACU's bugs and glitches, but it actually does a lot of these little things that make the world seem more than just AIs wondering around aimlessly.

I found a bus stuck in a garden. I think I saved a video of it. Eventually I went in, kicked the driver out and drove the bus myself.

hey mafia 2 does all that and i really love it. Especially when i rob a store, then come back sometime later to see the police are interrogating the clerk :D

when i come closer, the clerk will say something like "Hey that man.. Sir! yeah that man is the robber" :D

But GTA V have much more things to do for the players to do than mafia 2.

@DSoup
yeah i remember playing around with the NPC like that lol.

Played some online in the Xmas snow. It definitely is a much much better experience now. It was a mess on the ps3 but everything went smooth on the ps4 and I actually got to do quite a lot of jobs. Races were the most fun part. With all the hiccups gone, I actually ended up having fun and laughing while at it.
The snow looks beautiful in the countryside and the desert. Looks drab in the city.
I still don't understand much though. Where are the ATMs to store the money? Not on the map at all. Also where is my apartment? Or will I get it/buy it later?
Also, just realised I never got the $1million pre order bonus at all :( !
