Gran Turismo Sport [PS4]

Except they are close enough during regular gameplay:

And that's a very compressed video. With footage streamed directly from the console the fake look of the hard edges is unavoidable without beveling.

When you have such highly detailed cars with very realistic shading on the screen, those low poly simply shaded buildings stand out like a sore thumb. It feels like a mix of two gens: PS4 cars, early PS3 buildings.
I see lack of AO as the culprit

It does look a little too flat, but geometry is not the biggesr problem, and certainly not lack of micro-pixel sized bevels. More detailed GI would make much more difference, and maybe some subtle detailed textures for rain stains here and there would not hurt either...

I know and I agree. I'm only saying that that's one thing, the other is stating that it looks like total garbage.

The middle one is very good, but then its real life. ;) Headlights make a lot of difference, and the materials are clearly more diverse and 'natural'.

No hands on but my impressions based on recent gameplay videos:
while the sense of speed is rather good in its current state, gameplay is still too static for my taste just like GT 5 was (never played 6). I have no doubt you could have some fun with it but footage does not excite me. Preview builds apparently do not have any damage system so I don't expect anything substantially more realistic than in the past.

I see it as a great graphical leap over past iterations but other than that I expected more to be honest- not just content wise but also In terms of gameplay. Having better controls and overall a better feel thanks to a improved controller or wheel isn't enough. It looks too gamey for a 2017 'Driving simulator' and thats my main problem this isn't Codemasters GRID which had a fantastic unique feel but was never promoted as simulation

I think what ruins the sense of speed it is the camera. The third person camera is far out and way too fixated at the back. The track moves but the car feels very much fix. During first person the camera is relatively a lot more static too.
Some motion blur around the edges of the screen would have also helped

You can see this when you compare the three games. The car in PC and FM move a lot more on elevation and turns in 3rd person. There is more rotational freedom. The camera shakes in various angles to elevation and turns in first person too, but it is more subtle in GT. The camera is also closer to the windshield. You are not looking from the drivers eyes. Conveying the sense of G-forces help a lot in conveying speed which PC does better than Forza and GT in 1st person. You can see that the acceleration and speed pulls the camera backwards as it would have happened in rea life. The car in GT is affected by elevation and turns but since the camera is a lot more fixated it destroys the feel.of speed

Grid is completely unrealistic btw but the shaky camera and motion blur help

A beta update added in an option to bring the third person camera closer and have more free movement instead of being locked to the car.

I don't think I could tell any more especially from the that gif:), I guess that van driving slowly down the highway gives it away.
