Gran Turismo Sport [PS4]

Things I care about:

1. No reuse of PS2 assets.
2. A career mode that doesn't consist almost entirely of "start in the back and win within 3 laps" races.
3. Menu screens that don't take five days to load.
4. Car modifications that make sense, i.e. no tuning the "Engine computer" in a 1968 Mach 1.

Things I don't care about:

1. The radio knobs on the car interior.
2. Taking pictures of the headlamps in photo mode.

As impressive as the models are, the last two games have been just plain bad and unfun. The sheer awfulness of GT5 was defended on how a scant ~300 of the cars looked really nice in photo mode. I'm not keeping my fingers crossed after having been bamboozled again with GT6, but if they actually put together a good game this time, I'll get it.

I'll not be surprised if this game will be one of Neo flagship title (basically a game that has a Neo mode). This game will be PSVR showcase and Neo showcase....
or maybe the real reason for the delay is because you guys complained about the audio and now they want to be the best car engine audio simulator with 22.2 channel, hrtf, binaural, dolby, thx, trueaudio support.
now that you mention it, I am surprised at the fact that NV wasn't present at PS4 Pro conference, and this game would be a VR seller and system seller too if they know how to handle it. I think there won't be a true original PS4 version of this game, it will be based on Pro assets and then adapted and optimised, imho.

for those who have played GT6, is it truly possible to get 100% of the trophies in a Gran Turismo game? I mean for those with an average skill or not so familiar with the new GT games...

It's a very very difficult one. I finally got it but I struggled so much with the last license tests. I don't know if I'm good or not, in the weekly events and GT Academy rankings I was usually around 20,000th. I don't know how many people were playing back then. :-?

It's certainly my second most difficult platinum ever, only 0.8% of players having 100% completion on the playstation stats. My most difficult platinum being Knack which is at 0.7%. Well maybe tied with GT6, at least it was quick. (yes, I'm the weirdo who enjoyed Knack, everybody shut up)

I think GT has very hard trophies. I am a license specialist so I tend to get those all on Gold in the first one or two days, partly because that wins you nice cars. But some GTs have had endurance races some of which are truly 24 hours. Sure you can pause them but pfff.

Yep. They spent apparently a lot of time and effort with their photomode with the details inside the car and the feature to move cars while in the photomode, but they somehow missed the cardboard trees on the first very important gameplay reveal and we still have average sounds for the engines and tires.

It's like they really think their super photomode outside gameplay is going to sell their game and forget the really important immersion details during gameplay. That's why they probably weren't ready for PSVR this year me think and they had to delay.

Months ago Kazunori himself unveiled a new direct drive thrustmaster wheel, GT branded. Where the hell is it? There is still zero information from thrustmaster! I hope it's not delayed to coincide with gt sport.

Looks good, but I am very bummed that game will not have full VR support. It will have some VR showcase sections [they cannot port all tracks to VR :-/].

Would have loved to at least just have had one car and track in VR to get a taste!

“The raw, live feel that you get when you sit in the cockpit of a car using PS VR is something that wasn’t possible in GT before.”

While remaining coy over what exactly to expect in GT Sport once you put on the PS VR headset — aside from the thrill of high speed, first-person driving, of course — Yamauchi-san couldn’t resist revving the engine on a couple of details.

“All the tracks are very interesting in VR,” he smiles. “But we’re letting you explore the environments in virtual reality, via the Photo mode. I think that kind of subtle usage is best for VR.”

I don't get the meaning of the last paragraph :nope:
