By not allowing to change the name, the other teams aren't getting any more money, because then the Renault name stays = original bigger sum to Lotus Renault. So the denial/or approval of other teams doesn't really change the amount of money passed, but only the name of Lotus Renault chassis
I dont think you understand. The F1 teams get a share of the commercial revenue based on the finishing position in the constructors championship.
Now if a team decides to change its name without approval, then they forgo the commercial revenue due to them(this sum is in the tens of millions of dollars). This is also why Sauber kept its name as BMW Sauber F1 Ferrari, even though BMW had quit the sport. So by keeping the same name, they can keep the revenue, otherwise they lose it. Now a workaround to this is the Title sponsor position, hence by announcing Lotus as a title sponsor, they can change the name to Lotus Renault and still keep the money. Got it?
