The low frame rate of this and MGS4 is due to the video capture ?
By the way the color palette makes these two games seem a little cell-shaded in certain moments.

Original resolution images from the fight and the forest sequence show polygon edges and aliasing. These parts really are realtime, no doubt now.

See, told you so! ;)

Oh well, i guess this should remind us of why Square are who they are. As you said, what's being shown here for FF13 is way prettier than 99% of other realtime footage we've seen.

Oh, anywhere i can find the shots? They won't load for me on that page.

After their realtime FFVII demo last year, I'm not that surprised. What eeks me is the difference between cinematic scenes and gameplay. That's always bugged me about FF. Screenshots are mostly of cut-scenes and don't show what the majority of the game plays/looks like.

They are originally from IGN.

I'm certainly amazed. The looks are top notch, the animation is incredible too... It's even better than MGS4 IMHO.

IMHO MGS4 convoy part looks incredible too. The low quality feeds made it look close to that Killzone fmv. :D

The IGN shots are photos off a screen, right?

In direct feed, my guess is that the two shots we initially hoped were in-engine are indeed in-engine, and if they were released at native resolution that might have been more obvious.

Hey man I currently won't hold a grudge against you anymore after some of the things you said to me tonight. I respect the admitted that you are wrong. As I did with KZ months ago.

So do you think it is the artistic skill that makes this game look good or could it be just the fact that they had PS3 devkits longer than most. Because lets be honest HS looks great and I imagine they had kits for a while too.

doesnt the many icon in the pic suggested is realtime?? Look at the attack option.

The shading quality on the girl's skin is simply amazing, it looks almost exactly like in the prerendered video (but with aliasing and stuff of course). All the assets are very fine too, the many years of experience from Square's CG artists is obviously going to pay off well.

Do you know how they did it though? I mean if they are doing it now, wouldn't other teams eventually catch up? What sorta technics are they doing that most people aren't?

Oh no, that's definately CGI, it has all the signs, this time for real, as Laa-Yosh might agree... And if it isn't, i'll eat my big toe nail..
Probably you are right, but after I saw that Tiger Woods realtime demo from EA (are there any hi-res shots of it?) I can't simply tell which is which ;)

I win

But seriously, SE's artists are amazing. Just look at the (PS2!) pics of the new Valkyrie Profile and it becomes obvious why I thought it was realtime from the beginning. (Also the - again, friggin PS2! - character models for FF12)
Their output with a real GPU being extremely impressive is not terribly surprising from that POV.

Shoot look at the new PSP FFVII game. Yes it's real-time.
