This game is a made with the Switch in mind or should I say Switch was the leading console I believe. I know the source material is from the PSP but you could tell looking at the early trailers that is what they were aiming for.
I sincerely doubt it was made with switch in mind. But the scale of the game is very much lenient towards switch hardware. They didn't change any of the structure of the game from the PSP version which is very tight hallways and largely very constrained compared to modern game

Even without RT and settings lowered they can't get solid 60 on series S? I don't think that is due to the hw. All these platforms could have used more time in the oven
Most likely runs on the same DX11 wrapper. Game is capable of running at locked 90 FPS on my lowend 2700 even in Novigrad with higher settings. DX12 however makes the Novigrad and other CPU bound areas to a rocky, stuttery, juddery 50-65 FPS...

I believe it was in the pre-launch DF video that Alex did where it was stated that that CDPR said that getting 60fps was stretching on PS5 and Series X. Remembering that Witcher 3 was CDPR's first truly open world game, I expect this particular version of the RED engine in their first open world game does a lot of things sub-optimally and lacks the optimisations you learn when you've shipped three or four open world games.

Except that it already ran at a perfectly locked 60fps on Series X and at a near-4k resolution, if you played the One X version on Series X.
They should have been more precise with their language. It's not anything inherent to Witcher 3 or RED engine that makes 60fps a struggle. It's their new enhancements that do that.

I did. The difference is the higher graphics settings combined with the higher fidelity assets. When you increase increase either, there is an impact to performance, when you increase everything then the impact can be considerable.

N1 was rather obvious, happy to see gt7 on list as environemnt underwhelming but car models, dynamic lighting and hdr superb, little controversial lack of Ragnarok but on the other hand tough game very polished we should expect more from Santa Monica, generaly nice list.

'Best game graphics', will there be technically most stunning graphics too? Anyways about todays list, callisto protocol would have been number 1 if it didnt launch with its problems. However they are fixed now....

Horizon: FW is hard to argue with.. but Callisto over A Plague Tale? I gotta disagree with that. Plague Tales character models are just as impressive, and the environments aren't even close IMO.

No Ragnarok is surprising IMO.. but alright. Also, GT7, while beautiful at times, just isn't consistent enough. Some tracks just look dull and bland.

The top 3 in their list could be reversed or mixed, it doesnt really matter i think. They are all impressive purely technically/graphically, with art direction setting them apart. IF anything it would be callisto protocol or a plague tale at nr1, perhaps fortnite ue5....
Callisto is their nr1 game but didnt make it due to bad launch.... However those things are mostly ironed out now.

As Alex FW on PC will be intresting if GG does a decent job of enhancing things.

Just listened to John and how he mentions that Calisto reminded him of Doom 3. And that's exactly right, same thing for me. Zero doubt someone with a heavy word in that studio is a fan of Doom 3 and also Quake 4. This is straight from Strogg Medical Facility :D

If i would have made a top 3, Portal would not exist, come on now. Requiem nr 1, Calisto 2 and Horizon 3

God of War does not deserve to be on the list IMO. One of the worst years ever in terms of graphics. I'd say only A Plague Tale, Calisto and Forbidden West are there for reasons beyond lack of options.
