Its certainly dropped down my list at only 5 hours. I'm not at all interested in the multiplayer (thats what UT3 and TF2 are for ) and I hardly ever play a SP game more than once so for me its the SP campaign or nothing. And 5 hours for a full priced game given the current competition in the market seems steep.
Hell, I think i'm actually going to run out of games to play! I already decided to delay Bioshock until I had completed a few other games, now CoD4 looks like a delay and i'm thinking about waiting to purchase Crysis until better hardware is available too. I completed Portal (or near enough) in one sitting and it sounds like HL2:E2 won't take very long. Oh, and i'm probably gonna wait until Gears is bargain bin aswell since I already have it on the 360.
Oh well, there is still UT3, that should keep me busy for a while
And nothing to do with the fact that Sony & Nintendo haven't really fleshed out their online infrastructure, and provided the tools and resources necessary to enable an equivalent online experience? Your impressions that XBox game single player components are getting shorter came after playing Heavenly Sword and Lair? Not trying to be sarcastic, just trying to understand the basis of singling out that platform.
Just curious now. Lets say I own a certain multiplatform game on both consoles. What differences am I going to find in their multiplayer experiences on each console??
Live is uniform across games. If I log on and a friend is on his dashboard, I can invite him to a game.
Gametrailers says a dozen missions, 30 - 45 minutes each, in their review. So, possibly 6 - 9 hours.
Still looking for a multiplatform review that addresses the differences (for SP) before I decide which version to buy, but I can't seem to find one yet.
Sadly, if the PS3 version had fared worse you wouldn't still be waiting for such a review.Still looking for a multiplatform review that addresses the differences (for SP) before I decide which version to buy, but I can't seem to find one yet.
also some PS3 games do not support voice com while ALL 360 games do, the unified friends list and messaging and private voice/text chat during game play (even while in different games or movies) and cross-game invites are just a few of the features that distinguish the two systems.
Sadly, if the PS3 version had fared worse you wouldn't still be waiting for such a review.
The playstation network is free. Are the extras really worth it? Considering they'll be in a future firmware release for the PS3. Again for free.
So having a robust MP experience in addition to the SP is a bad thingI would accept this had it not been for the glut of Xbox titles equipped with highly fleshed out and established online components as opposed to Wii & PS3 titles which have either none or severely crippled attempts..
Yes, VF5 is a great example.A perfect example of this would be VF5 for instance..
It's pretty obvious to me that due to the premium nature of a service like XBL when compare to Sony's & Nintendo's offerings (which are free), it's in MS's best interests to encourage online across all of there platform releases whether first party or not..
& for that reason I think it's pretty clear that there are trends towards xbox titles (whether ports or exclusives) having stronger/existent online components than their counter-parts..
and(i.e. "more multi-player, bollocks to everything else.." syndrome..)
Your example does nothing to substantiate your claim. VF5 isn't an indication that Xbox gamers are ignoring SP. The SP is BETTER on the 360 than the PS3. If anything VF5 shows a different trend.A perfect example of this would be VF5 for instance..
There isn't anything uncivil about my post. It is focused on the topic and specific points. You were and are wrong. Just because you are a developer and have broadcast such doesn't mean you get a free lunch, especially when your points are incorrect. And I don't appreciate the snide comments littered in posts, PMs, or being called out on the forum because some developer is upset when they are told they are incorrect when they used tired arguements like, "The 360 has mostly FPS".Lastly I think you should try and lower that chip off your shoulder when stating your oppinion on a matter Joshua.. It's doesn't do well towards keeping discussion civil and often down-right pisses people off with an "I am greater than thou" attitude it so prominently resembles..
MS has $300 million in revenues from XBL?
Is there a link to some announcement?
That's a lot of $50 subscriptions if true.
I am going to get it today.
