Didn't someone earlier state that there's proportionally more "core" gamers on Xbox One compared to PS4? That seems like the only logical conclusion to me. Unless Ubi sold some Xbox exclusives?
there could be hundreds of reasons for this. I doubt it's any one particular factor. Without real data and survey data I imagine it's hard to pinpoint. About any reason we throw up could be plausible or false at the same time. We can certainly take guesses, but I imagine Sony has the lions share of defectors(from Xbox) so if they happen to not like the product they either went back to Xbox or stopped purchasing content.

It could also be the age factor, Xbox one owners may overall be an older population with more disposable income (let's assume media features was a big deal for purchase).

This Ubisoft stat is only meaning one thing, and one thing only: PS4 users spend less on average on Ubisoft games; you can't make it tell anything else for 2 reasons:

- PS4 has a user base that is much more varied (and in more countries) than XB1's. XB1 userbase is US / UK based and Ubisoft games could well target those players.
- There are much more games available on PS4. Some could buy The Witness, Rocket League or The talos Principle on PS4 instead of Assassin's creed.

So it doesn't mean that PS4 users spend less digitally (it could be the contrary) or that they spend less on average on buying games (again, it could be the contrary).

Hmm, I doubt that Xbox has an older generation TBH. In fact I'd say that younger people are more likely to purchase more games regardless of their disposable income.

I certainly buy less games/hardware now that I'm in my (gulp) late-30s.

Edit: people in their 30s/40s likely grew up on Playstation. I was well into my twenties when the original Xbox was released.

Indeed, like I said its unknown without real data, a decent counterpoint - you and I are somewhat close in age (mid 30s), I actually buy more games now than ever (this may not be a good thing lol!)

globalisateurs point is the most valid, the only data we can conclude with that stat is that for some reason Xbox owners are more likely to purchase ubisoft titles than ps4 users.

Not entirely. We only know XBox owners are more likely to buy first hand versions of ubisoft titles than PS4 users. It's quite possible that more PS4 owners have bought Ubisoft games, but not brand new. Having a larger consumer market should mean there's a larger second hand market as well.

Yes this would be even more accurate.
Lol are we into something?
I feel like a sucker now.

Interesting. Any theories on why XB1 users are spending more on games than PS4 users?
"-A 42.6% jump in back-catalog sales to €280.8 million for the first nine months of 2015-16."
Does Ubi have a notewworthy presence on XB1 BC or back catalogue deals?

Anyone have a list of what games were available on what platforms?

We have to take Ubisoft's report for what it is. It's not the definitive measure of software sales or attach ratios. Marketing deals, bundles etc., affect the splits since it's not unit splits but revenue splits for one publisher. Previous Ubisoft reports had the PS4 at >2:1 when the PS4 had less marketshare than it does now.

Also, the XB1's install base is probably made up of a higher percentage of core gamers, which are the type of games Ubisoft typically make.

Back Catalog refers to any Ubisoft title released before March 31st 2015.

Also, the sales numbers include bundled copies of games.

There are not hard numbers, where does it say: "Xbox One sales: 128.654, PS4 sales: 109.765" ?
If they are not accountable for their vague statements, then I will take it as marketing for their partner. To attract 3rd party deals maybe?
Sony needed to bundle AC:Syndicate to achieve launch parity, that tells you enough doesn't it?

So XB1 drops to $299, but it's #48 in the Amazon hourly list? PS4 at #10 and $50 more. Seems NA market might be slipping away. I've been playing with people in Destiny recently and lots of them have started over on the PS4 from the XB1. Maybe there is a critical mass that has been reached?

Race will be completely lost for MS even in USA when PS4 reaches $299 price. I suppose that will be the time when MS will try to shake things up with upgraded Xbone hardware. Hopefully arrival of PS4K upgraded model will not remove basic PS4 from the market. It would be shame if "$299 or lower" hardware goes away from the stores.

I'm struggling to see what is coming to XBO this year to counter what PS4 has - of course that's a personal thing but the PS4 exclusives look far more appealing this year than last and Uncharted 4 I think will create a bigger splash than Gears 4 based on folk switching from XB to PS this gen.

"Have you seen titanfall?" is a meme. Major Nelson used that sentence constantly during the Xbone launch window whenever sometime asked him about almost anything.

He did not use it much after the PS4 outsold Xbone in the US during Titanfall launch month. :)
