Yes, I know it's #1 now, but it wasn't when I checked this morning and noon to shop for Blu-ray movies and games.

    EDIT:
I do expect the new boxes to move up the rank though. Thanks to the effort from all 3 vendors, the game industry seems to be expanding and I hope it continues to do so.

Apparently the transition is still in progress. This hour, the PS3 is #3 and the 360 Premium is #5. (Wii is #2.)

Take a look at the price, it's $39 instead of the usual $59. It's been selling quite well for two months since its release, now it's got a non-trivial discount.

Though I agree it's unlikely, I wouldn't say it's delusional. XB cost way more than PS2, yet was sold cheaper - cost of production does not determine final price point. It depends on strategy, cost of hardware, and returns through software. It could be that Sony are willing to take a $30 hit on hardware and sell for cheaper than XB360 because they take more money in the long run on BRDs and download content, for example.

I don't think it'll ever happen. I think Sony like being the pricier machine for image! But it's not delusional to entertain the possibility.

The $50 price cut might be enough. We won't know for a few months.

Nope, much to little. The need to drop the price $100 in NA and ~80GBP/EUR in UK/Europe across all SKU if they want to get out of the ho-hum sales rut they've been in the last few months. If they REALLY want to move volume they need to get their Premium X360 under $200USD. The vast majority of people still aren't willing to spend more than that for a console.

They can't undercut the PS3 too much though. There also this thing called image / consumer perception.

Is it enough? We'll know that soon.

Meanwhile I'm wondering what they'll do in Europe....

It is for you, but then you're MS's biggest supporter .

Whats really annoying, is that no price-cut has been mentioned for Europe. Then again, most people over here would laugh at the idea of a £25 price-cut .

I wouldn't go that far just yet. The only comment MS has made regarding the Core and HDMI is that they "have not announced" any plans to add HDMI to the Xbox 360 Core System. There may still be hope.

if WiFi adaptor doesn't com out in black i guess i will buy Premium 360 with HDMI now. i don't need large HDD, i just want HDMI. it seems MS just did it at right time, to drive premium sales. Core and Elite are minor SKUs so MS wouldn't worry their sales being affected by premium HDMI 360s.

What's really annoying is people constant raising points about people's supposed prejudices/preferences. It seems no-one can make a remark about any topic without being called a fanboy one way or other. "This is a good game" "You would say that, being that company's biggest fan." "Don't like that idea." "You wouldn't being a fan of the rival."

You may find this hard to believe, perhaps a lot of people on this board will find it hard to believe, but not every opinion a person has comes from a blind, unthinking following. It is possible that a person sees something as a good move or a bad because for reasons other than they're a loyal follower of Platform X. And even if every opinion Mr. Forumite is blind bias, they are entitled to live their life according to those principles if they wish.

This is spoken of in the FAQ, which has been up long enough that I'd have thought everyone would have got the message by now. Platform prejudices aren't actually a valid topic for discussion. If a person's opinion is coloured by bias, so be it. Stop constantly harping on about it!

    Seconded!

(On a side note maybe M$ should call their next console "Platform X" that way they'll get EVERYONE on board by default!..

.... Actually I dont own a PS3 or a Wii...

For goodness sake! I'm making the point that a 13% price cut (or whatever it is) on the Premium SKU isnt significant in terms of a price-cut. I'm not sure what everyone else has got to do with it, when the comment was specified at one individual...it wasnt intended as a diss, merely an observation.

I hope Sony push ahead with a signficant price-cut to close the gap to MS. I think 20% should just about cover it.

The Wii Nunchuk is at #6 is while the Wii Remote is #11. Consumers are clearly voting with their dollars here

Whether intended as an insult or an observation, it serves no useful purpose. At best it goes unnoticed. At worst it aggravates the person you're talking about and gets people making alternative observations.
