Tom Clancy's The Division [PS4, XO]

So then what's the non online? Have we heard anything about it?
Well, in one of the interviews the dev had said that u can play the game alone, with co op but u will have to be a jack of all traits in ur skills. Frmo that interview, it seems the game can be played solo as is. No separate mode.

So its against bots then or alone but online PvP? No story?

Against bots. PVP happens in separate zones/areas in the map. Rest is all PvE which u can play in co-op or solo. But then u can encounter other people anywhere, so am not sure how not have ppl kill you as soon as they see you to get your loot.

Hopefully they don't simply add invincible mode for between players when on pve zone

I'm sure that's exactly how.

So far it's a bit like Destiny regular PVE, you see other real people running around but dont really interact with them.

Graphics look to me like 900 or even 720. I notoriously tend to think everything is 1080, so that's why I'm guessing that way, it's deffo soft. (watch me be wrong again).

Edit: Given Watch Dogs, 792 seems likely.

I think they showed footage where the player group encountered another player group in the world and they had to decide on whether to engage or not , outside the PvP zone. I may be remembering wrong, but that distrust part of meeting others was highlighted for sure. Inside the PvP zone u could even kill ur own friends to get the loot. Don't like that, don't like that in BL2 too where loot is shared meaning you spend all the time killing the boss only to get the loot grabbed by one lazy guy in the end !

Really impressed with the volumetric lighting and weather effects. Some of the best Ive seen this gen.
Overall the world building and ambition of this game is fantastic. Has it been stated that the final PS4 will be 1080p and Xbox 900p?

Game just looks average now, nowhere close to the promo trailers or clips ubi's shown. Gameplay doesn't look that interesting either, might be skipping this after all.

My not too detailed thoughts despite NDA (talk about it seems widespread, but I'll try to keep brief)

Also only got a chance to play a total of about an hour, so keep that in mind.

First off my main frame of reference is Destiny...

It's a cover shooter, more Gears of War than Destiny. The gameplay doesn't seem nearly as skill based as Destiny, you aim a big auto aimed round curser at enemies, this gets bigger (less accurate) the more you shoot without stopping. it's almost a bit more like turn based in practice than twitch gameplay. It's NOT turn based obviously, but just to give a feel for how extremely paced the shooting is. I cant see how this will be skill based at all in PVP...at least not in a twitch sense, it may turn out to be in a tactical sense?

The cover system, frankly, feels pretty clunky at this stage. As does the gameplay in total, again coming from Destiny. They're really totally different combat.

The graphics, a mixed bag, definitely a huge downgrade from original vids, but still probably among the best looking open world games and a good looking game in the current gen roster outright, especially in the city scale. When you get a snowy cityscape it's impressive.

The RPG elements seem probably a lot more complex and deep than Destiny, which I guess is good. I feel like balance is going to be a challenge with so many options, as it is in any game. Pretty much guarantee within a week people will be figuring out combos that are drastically OP, just because there's so many. I felt like the menu's were not very intuitive in my short time I couldn't even figure out the primary/secondary weapon system. For whatever reason I could only access one of those two.

You have a base! That you are meant to upgrade and so on, by doing missions. Obviously this is one area very different than Destiny and could be an edge.

The missions though, could grow boring quickly because of the weak seeming combat. I already grew a bit tired of it sometimes. Like oh, I have to restart this battle again because I died for the 4th time? That's the test if the battles are fun, and sometimes they weren't fun enough to make you want to keep trying.

I did not see any Dark Zone stuff (remember, only 1+ hour playtime) and am only even vaguely aware what that is, but it's a big part of the game I didn't experience.

Overall I would call myself far from blown away, even a bit disappointed, but still hopeful.

edit: that dailymotion vid will probably give a lot more info than i did if you are interested in the game.

.
Actually Ubi's own upcoming Far Cry Primal looked tons more impressive graphically, as well as EA's Mirror's Edge, very likely Mass Effect Andromeda and most certainly Horizon. But then again it wouldn't be Ubi if there's no downgrade.

hmm the enemy behavior is immersion breaking, they does not act like human, they also bullet sponge. in destiny we fight vs aliens so that "weirdness" is not as distracting

I don't like the animation from what I've seen. Lighting is all over the place too, sometimes looks great (mostly during the dark) sometimes looks very flat. Still, it's an alpha, things can change.

Ubisoft and downgrade are pretty much synonymous at this point, so it's not really surprising. They have a long history of doing it. I can't even remember the last time Ubisoft didn't downgrade a game's visuals after its reveal.

I do not like Chromatic Aberration too.

Unfortunately, the cutscenes in Beyond did also get CA on PlayStation 4. :( Now they can waste 1-2% power on this effect.
