Nao32 is a data format. HDR is not another data format (FP16 would be another data format [commonly used for HDR rendering]), it's the stuff you can do once you have a data format with certain qualities, most importantly the ability to encode values outside of the [0...1] range, while maintaining acceptable precision. It might be obvious now, but Nao32 is one such format, and of course so is FP16 or what-have-you. FX8 not so much.

Xbox 360 can make NAO 32 ( HDR 32bit with shaders ) in the same way.

You're comparing 32 bits per pixel (NAO32) with a supposed 24 bits per component (or 72 bits per pixel).

Not that I'm claiming anything about the HDR in GT5, just pointing out that your comparison probably isn't working in the direction you intended.

Awesome, he seems to be looking into the turn in the second picture. Was hoping for that. :)

Some stuff is starting to appear in the mirrors too now, though it's obviously still a work in progress, the lego blocks for pixels ... ;)

Is it me or did they bump the shadow map resolution a little? Looks like there's less aliasing on, for instance, the side view mirror in the third shot.

On a related note, I definitely have no doubts about their ability to give me the look. I hope they're able to give the feel as well.

One wonders if PD are the only devs to have access to another 1 gig of memory that no one else knows about :p.

Just seems amazing that they have that amount of detail inside (textures, geometry), +outside (car models), +16 cars all at once, + superb lighting, + animated driver, + wind effects on grass, + AI, game mechanics etc.

Do you guys think that with the tracks their going to stream the tracks or be all in memory at the same time?

Thanks! Seems to be a lot of interesting things in there!

1. It seems like Prologue is coming along very well. :D
2. Looks like right now we have at least 4 tracks, and then at least as many photo locations in the area of those tracks. Seems like Suzuka is in there, as is Brand's Hatch! That accounts for Tokyo / London. Le Mans is another! Also I see Daytona Beach, which I'm not sure if it is a track or a Photo location.
3. Track conditions or something are already in there! Don't know if they are actually implemented yet, or whether they right now just show what the conditions are in real life, but I do see a sun icon in two screens, with 20 and 24 degrees, and a rain icon with 29 degrees (Daytona Beach) indicated (Celcius, presumably ;) ).
4. Seems like GT5 prologue has the photo mode, replay mode, and a garage. The home button is intriguing too. Maybe it will launch at the same time as Home?

I saw that rear view of the SL 55 @ work and I was thinking "wait, wheres the GT ss? its not that..." then when I enlarged it, I was like "ohhhhhhhh  "
