The Framerate Analysis Thread part 2

Are there any PS3 games with soft vsync or it's 360 exclusive feature?

sort of take a look at motorstorm or bayonetta both games try to tear at the edge of the screen which isnt visible if you set your tv to disable overscan but why would you do that. less pixels = uglier picture.

is infamous framerate capped? was playing the demo it was pretty smooth but never 60hz smooth. just by eye, its a huge improvement over the first one which was franky kinda embarrassing.

I'm really interested to see soon fps analysis about infamous 2 because seem smoother & higher than 30 fps from what I have seen in the demo (of course with relevant dips) & I found lately one of the best espressions to push the ps3 hardware.

only problem is that no AA can be a bit rough sometime.

I think it's fine... contrast helps alot. It's much better than InFamous 1.

The only time it does get a bit jarring is with the transparencies. They can get jaggy as hell. Really really jarring at times.

Overall though i think the IQ is pretty great, and i love their SSAO implimentation.

Indeed appears really terrible... even the first infamous (which I'm playing now) had a lot less jaggies during these moments... why not have use the MLAA at least in those situations? :???:

they should adopt the up scaling method that evolution studio used for Motorstorm 3 to upscale quad size special effects. Worked great in the game.

I'll agree I never noticed the low res transparencies as much in Infamous 1.

It's quite possible that it's just because the game itself was alot more jaggier (a real word?)?

I dunno, but it's really noticable in the cut-scenes. They should have just done what U2 did and rendered the cut-scenes offline with super IQ. When you're flying around the New Marais you don't notice the low res transparencies as badly as you're view is generally a bit further away from the explosions and such.

I'm really wickedly impressed by the framerate of the game though... it feels pretty responsive too.

its odd that the first scene in the commericials is an explosion behind cole which shows the poor edges from the low resolution alpha, as for infamous 1 any scene with the ray sphere showed the low resolution alpha in an obvious way.

Very impressive indeed. It also holds up extremely well under stress. By calling most of the user generated levels forgettable you'd actually do them a favor, but on the flip side it's kinda neat to unleash an Ion Vortex into 50+ enemies that all spawned right in front of your nose all at one.

What happened to Infamous 2's framerate analysis? Did DF do an article on this already? It would be odd not to have an analysis on one of the biggest games so far this year, don't you think?

Maybe it came in time other things were also getting DF's attention. And honestly, enough with that "bias" crap,PS3 exclusives got biggest and the best attention when it comes to tech talks on DF.
