Sweetvar26 info IIRC wasnt that interesting. He was a layman who didnt understand the info he was giving at all.

I do recall him saying something to the effect that within AMD the Durango project was looked at as more technically advanced, ambitious, what have you than the the Orbis project, something to that effect.

Also Aegies from Polygon has hinted a lot that Durango is pretty powerful, he said 8x 360 and implied it could grow even more, so there is rumors from both sides.

I still think a Xbox with 8GB DDR+ESRAM+1TF GPU vs a PS4 with 2GB GDDR+2TF GPU (+perhaps 4 traditional piledriver cores) would be quite the fascinating technical battle. The latter would basically be a video card on a stick. Extremely fast but shallow?

I'm sorry if I make you this question as my first post but I read the thread for some time.
As we moved from GPU HD7xxx/8xxx to a GPU very poor of 1 TFLOPS that would not even be able to run the UE4??

Not very reliable (for ps4 info.) I think. For Durango, I guess they may be, but it remains to be seen how much they really know, as they could be janitors in charge of cleaning the windows offices for all we know ;-)

Requesting PM of that Durango rumor too...

The only reason I can think of why these rumors of weak beta kits and 1TF keep coming out is because they aren't final kits, and they want to keep the real spec as secret as they can so only the final one tells the real story. No way are we getting 1-2TF in the end.
 
The rumor was just 8gb, 8 core, esram, and that the raw power of the machine was kind of low (but still cited as much better than wii u), and that the specs would cause controversy once they hit the web.
 
What is the sense in providing your developers with 1 TFlop devkits years in advance only to spring 4-5 TFlops on them in the final box?

Thanks for the information. I was just curious about all that 1TF talk - I personally don't expect a monster PS4 but I assume all this waiting and AMD "betting" the company on HSA has to lead somwhere far beyond the Wii-U not near it.
 
Not sure what all the concern about TF's is for. Do you honestly think MS, for example, would release a console that can't make use of all the nice new features in UE4 and CryEngine 3.0? They're not going to release a console that struggles to run these. In fact I'm sure the likes of Epic have had input into the Durango specs much like they did with the 360 to get it running UE3 nicely.

Getting feet wet with the architecture? Although I do recall a few 7970 and 580 rumors too. I'm sure they have multiple kits to experiment on and these low spec ones are just throwing people off.

Back on topic, I still think these next-gen consoles will bring at lease 2.5 TFLOPs.

If that's the case, I would expect the specs to be kept a secret. If this was the case, I would show the next console's chasis, games running on it, and talk about the new services. I would not mention the specs at all.

Hey bklian I now this is a bit offtopic but do you like Cycling? Coz boy do I love Cycling as a hobby. I've bought a brand new bicycle in 2005 which I totally adore even till this day. There was once I rode 240km cross country before the tired started to deflate. A good bike non the less, it has very good gears throughout the years and it even comes with a green helmet if you buy it in 2007.
So by the end of this year or at the latest early next year I'm going to replace it with a newer bike, I've heard models that could let you ride 1200km in one session without burning the tyres , also a more expensive and very high end model that could really let you ride 3000km without burning the tyres. I'm thinking about something in the middle say 2000km per session which shouldn't be too expensive. I hope it comes with even better gears and more shinier green helmets bundles, have I mentioned green is my favorite color?
Anyway if you also like cycling as a hobby could you give me some suggestions on which model should I get in 2013? Cheers mate:).

Now 1TF is kinda too underwhelming lol. I can assume that both MS and Sony will not have top of the line GPU on their consoles but I dont think it will be that low. Heck my old 5870 circa 2009 will be lot more powerful than that.

For a console launching in late 2013, anything below 2TF should be unacceptable.
 
I don't even know where is Rangers confidence from btw,i highly doubt MS come with 1TF GPU and PS4 come with low RAM(don't tell me it's from SKYSONY)
