Iwata on Wii U power consumption..

GAF translation said:
However, during normal gameplay, that electrical consumption rating won't be reached.Depending on the game being played and the accessories connected, roughly 40 watts of electrical consumption could be considered realistic."

40W during gameplay is really pushing it to the edge.

It Durango really only has a 1TFLOPS GPU then thats less than x2 of what is reported to be the Wii U's GPU (600GFLOPS).

Combine that with 4 Jaguar cores (1 for OS/Kinect?) and 5 GB RAM for games (3GB for OS/APPS) and you have a console which isn't much above the Wii U.

Lets pretend Durango will only have 2x flops. Durango would have all type of good stuff (much faster buses and memory, more ROPS, TMUs) that will make the difference much wider

Yeah, there is no way Nintendo would puts some high alu GPU in 40W Wii U and runs it at low mhz just to say they have 600gflops and then cripples it with slow mem and fillrates.

That can't be it. It doesn't have two screws on the left and has 11 "grills". MSI R6950 has 13 and only one that fits perfectly is MSI R6870. It has exact same port arrangement as dev kit one, it has blue ports just like the one in Durango and it has 12 grills. Fits perfectly. That is the card in development kit.

I was just writing a post about the mounting bracket grill/vent.

Anyway, I think it's jumping the gun a bit to say that the MSI R6870 has to be the card in the dev kit. Although, the likelihood is increasing.

I'm counting it. 11 on that 7970. 12 on dev kit unless I'm blind.

Although it should be noted. There are some MSI R6870 with 13 and 12 grills, as well as R6950 with 12 grills. So...its one of these two, I'm betting on it.

It doesn't have to be, it can be R6950, but as this is prediction thread I predict its one of these two. They fit like a glow.

I agree with your prediction; I was just getting at that the actual cards can be a little different than the reference photos. Like in Alphawolf's case, and different colored DVI ports than the pics on Powercolor's site.

What's interesting though, is that all of the MSI cards I linked to with that bracket config and DVI port color were factory overclocked, except for this one. So, either they used a OC'ed card to try to better emulate the final hardware... or we could have just narrowed it down further. ;)

Yea, thats why I'm not 100% sure too. If you google "R6870" you will find exact same GPUs as if you typed "R6950" so I can't really know.

If Durango has a 6950 powering it I think most here will be satisfied:D

And performance wise, what would be the 8xxx series equivalent of a 6950?

Now I feel like I'm derailing the tread, but I've finally managed to "crack" it so we can put this this part of discussion to an and. Its 100%, definitely and absolutely an MSI card. It can be either R6950 or R6870.

If you look at the left side from DVIs on dev kit you see there are tags that are "stamped" in metal. Two "arrows" by each DVI and MSI left from them (since its turned upside down). I have hard time explaining where, but its very easy to notice once you look at this picture

Notice MSI tag on the right? Notice arrows by DVIs? Brighten up dev kit and there they are.

Well the arrows are on all the cards (including my 7970), but ya you can definitely see the MSI logo on the dev kit picture.

That was a nice leak. I was also going to mention the MSI logo can be seen in the picture.

Another "outside" contender is the MSI 6790. The angle of the dev kit pic makes it tough to tell if it has a red cover. But I'd probably lean more toward the 6950 as well.
