Ok where the heck are the GeforceFX reviews?

I hope that's not the lower end model. If it is, that seems to indicate prices around $460+ for the higher end model.

Certainly makes me glad I picked up an ATI 9700 Pro for $230 shipped. That should tide me over until the fall/Doom3 timeframe [NV35/R400].

I believe the initial price will be around 400 USD. Only our demand can bump it up, though I don't believe we will see anything higher than $450 for an Ultra version. I recall Gainward Ti4600 boards going for as much as $450 at newegg.

Why? You realize they left the whole "Ultra" name behind 2 generations ago, right? I see no reason to assume they will suddenly return to it...

Well there has been many leaks about the Ultra version, and this SKU also shows it :?:

Well, in that case Nvidia's marketing department doesn't make any sense. Why drop the MX-GTS-Pro-Ultra name scheme due to "confusion", only to bring it back again? I agree there is confusion, but only because they keep changing their naming scheme!!!

I suppose that's what happens when the engineering department can't deliver...the marketting department has nothing to work with. At this point, I believe that nvidia is day-late-dollar-short, so confusion will do nothing but aid them.

Hehehe, I just heard from a semi-inside source that GeForce FX's 'ace' is accelerated stencil shadows :) DOOM3 renderer anyone?

They were supposed to drop the Geforce name. Guess what? ;)
And all those rumors about NV30 being called Eclipse and such. Same is happening here...with the price tags :p

Tag,

NV30 does not appear to have any additional stencil acceleration other than the double-sided stencil testing feature that's a part of DX9 and that the R300 also features.

I'm curious though why stencils are done using the normal pixel pipelines. Maybe because they in the past haven't been used much and thus isn't worth spending the trannies on to create specific rendering units for. Maybe we'll see that in the future, unless some soft-edge shadowing scheme catches on that is...

If i wasnt so darn lazy, i would go back several months (a year :) ) and look at all the rumors for NV30 and see who was more/less accurate with their info. Maybe some one would do the hard work for those who would like to know who has a good/bad track record with what they say.
