Nvidia Geforce Drivers Release Announcement thread

Question : Anyone know when the new Nvidia control panel comes out of beta ?

ps: time for my traditional rant
662mb the whole of windows xp including nvidia drivers wasnt that big
soon to be replaced with a new rant when they hit 701mb "Nvidia drivers wont even fit on a cd"

pps: searched my hdd for folders named "nvidia" because I wanted to see how big my shader cache was and my god there was about 2 dozen of them

hoping this will help with my issue, i have 4090 and a 144hz g-sync monitor but when i start from a cold boot and windows is set to 144hz i have flickering on the top of the screen. at 120hz it doesnt happen
this maybe has fixed my issue, setting it to no scaling in "adjust desktop size and position" in the nvidia control panel

maybe, i have to have it at 144hz and just see if i notice it after a cold boot

My linux folding rig imploded a month ago and I haven't had the chance to repair it. Might be a reinstall, which might then include the 555 series driver...

The application specific 3D settings in the old control panel don’t seem to be syncing g with the new app. Vsync, frame limits etc. Anyone else have that problem?

* 2.8 NVIDIA OpenCL Compiler Upgrade

The NVIDIA OpenCL driver used an older OpenCL Just-In-Time (JIT) compiler based on the legacy 3.4 versions of the Clang front-end and NVVM optimizer. NVIDIA has been working on upgrading its OpenCL JIT compiler to use a newer version 7.0 of the Clang front-end and NVVM optimizer component. NVIDIA introduced this new OpenCL compiler as an opt-in feature in 510 driver release (511.09 on Windows and 510.54 on linux), with the default OpenCL compiler remaining the same.

With 555.99, NVIDIA OpenCL will use the new Clang + NVVM 7.0 based compiler as the default compiler, replacing the old compiler. As part of this driver install, a new compiler library should be visible in the system folder as libnvidia-nvvm.so/nvvm*.dll instead of the old libnvidia-compiler.so*/nvcompiler*.dll.

The driver will pick up the newer compiler library by default.

555.99 added fixes that they had to backport to these older cards

Beginning with the Release 555, NVIDIA display drivers will no longer support older CPUs that do not support POPCNT (Popuulation Count) instruction. While these CPUs are already officially not supported on Microsoft's Windows 10/Windows 11, if a user with a PC using an unsupported CPU attempts to install R555+ display drivers, the PC will bugcheck/BSOD when booting into Windows.

The article gives instructions on how to check if your PC supports POPCNT instruction. If you have a tool like AIDA64 or similar you should also see what instruction sets are supported.
