I don't care what anyone says... or about all this 'fairness' this and 'equality' that... The MGS4 video is head and shoulders above anything else seen for any other system, including the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. I just cannot fathom how people are even comparing MGS4 and GoW...
MGS4 was rendered on an evaluation kit, which is a 2.4GHz Cell and a GeForce (presumably 7800). Far, far below final hardware performance.
Qroach said:...and I don't care what you say fine we're even. regardless there was nothing in the MGS4 video that was head and shoulders aboe anything I've seen in GOW. Other than the fact it was a long cutscene trailer that is. it looked great, but the comments like "I just cannot fathom how people are even comparing MGS4 and GoW..." are incredibly fan-ish.
Qroach said:The beta kits are NOT far below final hardware performance. This is another BS comment generated by fans on teh internet. There is no evidence to suppoort that. infact I've heard the beta kits for PS3 were closer to final hardware in performance than the beta kits for xbox 360.
Qroach said:The last half of that sentance made sense, but the first half is what I was talking about. PS3 doesn't have any inherent advantage with animation.

scooby_dooby said:to see the difference a cinematic trailer can make, look no further then the trailer for mgs2: sons of liberty in 2001, then check the gameplay footage released later on. both are available on gamespot.
c0_re said:Exactly the difference was night and day, I can say the same thing about Halo1\2 cutscenes in the "realtime" cutscenes the AA was cranked up along with the special effect and hig rez bumpmapping\textures.
c0_re said:/\ uh ok believe whatever you want sure the PS3 is gong to be like 50x better than the 360 and 30x better than a 3000$ PC your going to anyways so what the point. Either way I want to see what Bungie, Carmack and team Ninja can do with the 360 they were the ones to push the Xbox last generation it will be the same this time around, it's not like GOW is even a 360 exclusive game.
scooby_dooby said:It just seems like some people are afraid to admit the hard truth, that these games are extremely close graphically, pretty much down to personal preference.
Alot of people wanted MGS4 to prove what they want to be true, that the PS3 will have better GFX than the x360. Graphically it just didn't prove the case.
It's awesome, but on par with the bext x360 gfx we have seen, and that's just the simple truth.
Like it or not, this only reinforces what many othes have been saying, that both systems will be comparable on screen, and the difference is going to be much less than last generation(PS2 - XBOX).
What made the MGS4 trailer most impressive was the dramatic flare, the cinematic style, the small attention to detail. But just look at the MGS2 trailer, and the MGS2 in-game footage, even though both pbviously use in-game assets, the trailer is much much more impressive because it's almost "movie-like"
skmanga said:they both look really good
but in action mgs vid looked way better and way smoother

I personally dislike the general lighting of GoW. It gives everything the same hueish color. In the MGS pic..I like the lighting..the more natural lighting appeals to me.
What do you guys think now?
